Sorry, I just can't view slaughtering a bunch of kittens or puppies the same as slaughtering a bunch of stupid cows that stand around all day groaning and being smelly. It sounds cruel and I know there were aspects of vegetarianism Pope John Paul (RIP) supported, but I'm not Catholic, and I believe that's the reason God put these animals on Earth. I went to the site...sure. I saw the list...sure. However, I'm not sitting there going..."oh wow, I didn't know so and so was a vegetarian. I really like him/her. I'm going to be a vegetarian. Nor am I going to be sitting around at the dinner table tonight and say "Mom, did you know that Carrie Underwood from American Idol is a vegetarian." So, all Peta did was annoy me further. I don't ask to have beliefs shoved down my throat, and while Peta is not guilty of that here, I've been in other situations where they have been. Also, for the majority of animals, if they did not eat meat, they would die. Humans however do not need to eat meat. Also, vegetarians are well catered for in this day and age, if you go into any town or city there are plenty of places to go and eat without having to choose something that was once alive. Basically, we don't have to eat meat and today’s world caters very well for vegetarians so what is the point of killing an animal for food? There is no point, it's just "traditional" and thought of as "normal" by today’s standards and a lot of people don't like to challenge to norm.
