View Full Version : "How the hell did I pass this class?" (Fall 2008)

My grades just came in and I got an A- in my Core class. A class that I was only allowed to miss three times and missed seven and a half (was kicked out halfway through class once). I can't remember a single quiz that I didn't fail and I used the essay space on my final exam to write a long, satirical essay criticizing the concept of the class and the professor.

What class(es) are you baffled that you passed?

12th grade Economy.

Semester is 4 months from late August to middle of December.

I went to about roughly 15 classes or three weeks out of the whole semester. I ended up with a 97% the highest grade in the class..

I loved Senior year.

Computer Science.

Got a 33 and a 39 on my midterms and no matter what I get on Friday on my final I'll get at least a B.

Insanely stupid grading system.

Dynamic System Controls, I'm looking at possibly a D right now which would completely ruin an otherwise straight A semester haha :(

I got an A- and two B+ in my neuroscience class and did horribly on the last exam but somehow managed to get an A in the class (our grades were determined solely on our performance on the 4 exams). The happiest WTF ever.

My Writing for Media class. I was freaking out that I wasn't going to get the C I needed to get credit for it but I somehow got an A- in the class.

I had to write a 20 page paper on Sino-Russian Relations from the mid 17th century to 1911. I'm an English major, I haven't taken a history course up to this point (I'm a senior) and I decided to start the research and all that the day it was due. I ended up writing 23 pages and got an A- in the course.

Econ Macro and Micro...
I was stupid to take both at the same time..and even stupider to not pay attention in class and lurk around AP instead...and got an A in both. woooo

I have a ''how the hell did I fail this class'' story, sadly. A professor had a grudge against architecture students, took it out on two of us, failed us, and threatened to fail another, and he had never even met us.

Yeah, professors having vendettas is definitely a shitty situation to be in. Luckily, all my professors really like me.

A got a D- in Business Law and I have no idea how that occurred. My test average was a 52% and MY in class work wasn't too hot. A's in my other classes though

I had no idea how I was going to do in a Graduate Political Anthropology course. I got an A though. Swish

Somehow, I suffered through Calculus this semester, failing every test but one (which I got a C on), and I got an A-. Yeah, I don't know, either.

I passed Italian, which I probably did not deserve. I left half of the midterm blank, guessed on everything else, and she still gave me a C because she loved me.

college algebra. I was more than convinced that I failed it, seeing as I didn't do about 30 of my homework assignments and I failed every test... along with never completing my participation hours. I got a D. I know, that's not really passing, but it's not failing either. I was in awe.

I got an A- in a core class I never participated in, missed thrice and fell asleep in. On the up side when I turned in work the teacher would pull me aside every so often just to talk about the characters in my stories.

haha the same thing happened to me last year, although it was probably because my idiot of a teacher messed up calculating our grades. Her solution to a complicated problem in class was to just erase parts of the equation and pretend they didn't exist.

For me it was this past semester, got a C in world geography. A class where no one knew what the hell was going on like what to study for the exams, plus the prof changing her mind about letting us use notes on exams even though on the first day she said this was her policy. Also, she completely went away from what was on the syllabus. Would have been fine with failing since it did not really count for anything but yeah I was shocked.

I finally got around to looking at my grade, and I must've killed the final 'cause I ended up with a B. Fuck yeah!

I got an A- in my Cultural Anthropology Course; a course with only 2 tests and 2 (100 point) assignments. I, of course, missed one of the 2 tests, and the teacher had a no makeup policy. With that in mind, I was hoping for at least a C+ for credit, and was completely surprised when that A- showed up on my report card.

I got a B in Ethics, yet I got C- on all three exams and only did half the homework. I think she gave me the B because I was the only kid in the class to schedule meetings with her to "check on my grades" aka I wanted to make her think I cared. I also went to two extra credit seminars (2 and a half hours each) and wrote summaries of them for her, and I was the only kid who went both times from my class. They sucked so I'm glad she gave me the B. I never want to have to sit through an Ethics class again.

I think that's part of how I passed Core (making the prof. think I cared). I would email her and meet with her after class and stuff.

Pretty much every single class in my major where I needed a C or above for it to be counted. After each final I'm always left wondering if it was a bad idea I didn't drop the class when I was able to. Nothing last semester though, those classes were cake.

I got an A in a class that I didn't take the final for. I'm not sure if I should talk to the professor or just let that one be.

Brain and Behaviour, which spanned two semesters. I stopped going to lectures the last semester but still managed to pass even when I'd totally given up and didn't even bother studying for the final exam.
