I really don't think there is a good movie that he didn't mention from this year on his list. Reading through this makes me wish I had the time to go back and re-watch almost everything he mentioned. I really want to watch Burn After Reading, Gran Torino, and Benjamin Button again. And I still need to see Man on Wire, Rachel Getting Married, and Happy-Go-Lucky, especially since this isn't the only list those 3 have showed up on. I'm guessing that most typical moviegoers don't even see more than 28 movies (http://www.firstshowing.net/2008/12/15/more-year-end-love-edgar-wrights-top-29-films-2008/#) (in the theaters) in a year anyway. How many of these have you seen? And do they deserve to be on your list as well?

Really surprised to see Benjamin Button and Milk ranked so low, based on what I've heard about them.

Man, I've only seen 12, but I do want to emphasize that even though I do really like Danny McBride, the Foot Fist Way was borderline terrible.

I don't know, it pretty much killed me. It was extremely boring and felt a little...forced.
I guess that's McBride's thing, but he does such a better job in Pineapple Express, Tropic Thunder, and others.

Can someone tell me what is so awesome about let the right one in. I mean it was a good and the music was great but the plot wasn't anything to special.

i don't see how it was forced at all.
it played out completely differently than i thought it was going to. i expected it to have the feel of a straight up comedy, but it played more like an indie film. i thought the tone and style were very different for the type of movie it was. i could see how the boring complaint could be valid, but i think it was anything but forced.

My list thus far for the year has fourteen films and I'll probably see another six to eight by years end.
1. Man on Wire
2. Eldorado
3. Milk
4. Wall-E
5. Vicky Cristina Barcelona
6. Let the Right One In
7. Happy-Go-Lucky
8. The Dark Knight
9. Burn After Reading
10. Shine a Light
11. Zack and Miri Make a Porno
12. Pineapple Express
13. Defenders of Riga
14. Australia

I really wanted to love the Foot Fist Way, but I thought it was pretty mediocre. It's probably one of those movies that gets better with repeat views. But for comedy I definitely think Step Brothers was the funniest thing I've seen all year.
I'm also glad to see he put JCVD on there since it's definitely on my top 10 for the year.

I don't want to hype it up, but I went into this movie with low expectations and was quite impressed. More so with his performance than the actual movie, which was very enjoyable by the way.

Let the Right One In is freaking awesome, but Wall-E is still a better movie, by far.
