call me naive, but that theme and numerous other orchestral pieces in PotC are some of the best works ever composed. glorious, imperious, epic. what do yall think

Haha I would easily call you naive for saying "best works ever composed." Not even close!

My friend and I play-fight to He's A Pirate because we're losers.

Great music, but my personal favorite score is James Newton Howard's work for The Village OST.

Hans Zimmer, who did the second and third Pirate movies, also did the score for The Rock. If you listen to both, they have many similar points.

The combination of him and James Newton Howard for The Dark Knight = epic.

Very late to this thread but Hans Zimmer is amazing. The At World's End soundtrack is probably my favorite score behind the Lord of the Rings films' scores.

Agreed, LOTR has some beautiful music. I listened to the new Pirates soundtrack on AOL, and it was pretty good. Still need to see the movie though.

I'm not a huge fan of the newest soundtrack, it's mainly just rehashed music plus a bunch of Spanish sounding guitars. With the exception of the mermaid theme, which is a hauntingly beautiful piece.
As for the film itself, I didn't have huge expectations, so I enjoyed it quite a bit. The main problems were things and characters conveniently showing up at just the right time, as well as things not being explained very well. But it had quite a few redeeming qualities, I don't really know what all the critics are going on about.

Eh, they're epic but not some of the best works of all time. I download anything Hans Zimmer does and I think he did stronger work with Inception, and the two Batman films. Favorite soundtrack ever is still the LOTR trilogy - amazing stuff

Eh... it works just fine in the context of the movie, but it's so darn boring listening to it by itself IMO. Almost every single track, more so on the Dark Knight than Batman Begins, sounds pretty much the same. Coming from a huge Zimmer fan.

I saw it the other night and that main theme (that they use every 15mins) was stuck in my head the other day. It's awesome.
