Come on people, just go to www.311music.com and enter the site....its right there on the front page of the news on the right hand side. Any way, I really don't think 311 has put out a terrible record, ok well Transistor wasn't all that great but 1 out of what..7 isn't all that bad. They have been around a long time and still rock and are amazing live. Can't say that about alot of bands these days. Looking foward to this one..

i was wondering what these guys were up to. i met them two years ago when i was working at hammerstein ballroom, they're really down to earth guys and put on a hell of a show. evolver was awesome and i'm really looking foward to this.

Until Saddle Creek came along. But still you aren't wrong.
311 is what got me into music, clear back when they still lived here and didn't have SA. All these years later I still love them and their music. I mean there have been a few things I didn't like....ie From Chaos(felt like a glorified B-side disc) and their "Love Song" cover. I really have no clue how many times I have seen them live but I will always try to get to their shows when they come around every tour.
Im always excited for new stuff but I haven't been completely impressed since "Soundsystem". Still good stuff, just downhill since then a little bit.
Overall I would have to say my top 5 311 discs would be
1. Soundsystem
2. Transistor
3. Music
4. blue album
5. Evolver
Favorite songs will always be "Come Original", "Transistor", "Unity", "Large In The Margin", "All Mixed Up", and for sure "Jackolantern's Weather".

Nick was born in Madison and lived here for the first two years of his life
That concludes our segment of "Useless fact of the Day"
It almost reminds me of the top part of the Fall Out Boy Cover a little bit.

That's nothing if you have seen it live with the whole band playing drums for an even longer extended solo. Although after seeing it 6 or 7 times it gets tiresome.

I dont listen to 311 like i did back in my highschool years. But i still have a little piece of them in me. My first concert, first 3, were 311 concerts. Anyway, this will be their last release, and then theyll finally call it quits.

I need to listen to the old 311 albums. I really only got addicted to the band after the blue album, so the stuff before that album just seemed kind of mediocre to me. I guess I was wrong. I dunno, I think Evolver is my favorite album from them. It was so different from their other CDs, I love it. I don't agree with Transistor being the best CD they put out. It has some great songs on it but I skimmed through so many songs on that CD. Isn't there like 21 songs or so on that CD? I remember only really liking like 7 or 8. But here's the order I would put them in:
Evolver
Soundsystem
Self titled(blue album)
From Chaos
Transistor

The Cure does a pretty good cover of 311's "Lovesong."

Transistor was good, but not my favorite. From Chaos was good.
I love this band. The new album title sounds like a country western title.
Can't wait for the album/tour. One of my favorite live bands, as well as just plain one of my favorite bands.

does this band still sound like Linkin Park? I'm sure last time i heard them they did.
I did love some of their older stuff though, especially that song with the video which had that bloke from American Pie in (I can't remember the name for the life of me)

i don't see how anybody could be a hardcore 311 fan and not have either grassroots or music as one of their top 2 favorite 311 albums. and transistor was neither shitty nor amazing. however, it is still a great listen and has passed the longevity test. also, though transistor was not their best effort, it is probably the best album to sit back and listen to on these beautiful summer days. their live show is killer. probably the best performers out there along with andrew wk and the bouncing souls. check out the DVDs if you're really interested. the 3-11 day one is all but amazing (with a lack of a 5.1 audio track.)
top albums:
1. grassroots
2. music
3. evolver
4. blue album
5. transistor
6. from chaos
7. soundsystem
and i by no means thought soundsystem was a shitty album. this band can do no wrong.

While I don't understand why you would hate them so much thats your feeling, I have to agree with you on this. They ruined that song for me. I can't even listen to the original Cure version without getting irritated now.

I was really into these dudes before they dove headfirst into that reggae thing they're doing now...I know it was kinda always there, but it was more of an afterthought, rather than the driving rhythm. Maybe I'm just a dick...

and for whoever said they sound like linkin park are you kidding?? 311 was around waaay before them, and they sound nothing like them at all.. think linkin park and reggae.. no i didnt think so
