I've been playing bass for 3 years and I've got to say its the best hobby I've ever had.

I've got a standard blue Fender Squier with Ernie Ball Hybrids and a black pickguard. Its pretty badass looking. I've also got a Fender Persision. The twanginess is awesome for most genres. I definatley suggest it.

Any other bassists here?

I've been playing bass for 2 years. In Russia american fender jass bass is meeting very seldom. I'm playing the Zak guitars German bass, 5 strings.

I play a Black Fender Jazz Bass and a Red Fender P-Bass through an Ampeg SVT 400T (it's kinda old but Krist Novaselic used one, so there) and a SWR 8x10 Monster cab.

dont buy a squier, seriously.
if theres any chance youre going to stick with bass, buy a nice one, squiers are shit.

i think squier basses are good for beginners. i've been playing bass for two and a half years or so and i had a squier affinity until about four months ago and i thought it was great. four months ago, i bought a musicman sub bass and it's definitely a step up.

i have an el degas, dunno what model because it's so old. but it's cut just like an EB (bass version of the SG), and i use a Fender 60 watt Rumble. i have an old peavey too, but it needs rewiring.

You obviously don't know anything about bass. Squiers are PERFECT for beginners. Fender Persisions are REALLY good. Jazz basses are also outstanding.

Fender makes the best basses out there.

i wouldn't go that far..as for starters your right get a squier stay away from ibanez gsr series. however, i think fender precision basses are some of the worst sounding basses. If your going to get a fender get a jazz bass. i personally play a washburn 6 string not really sure on the model number i bought it second hand. im looking into getting a standard (mexican) fender fretless jazz bass as a second bass. I like fender jazz basses but overall fender is really overated though.

Try telling that to 3/4 of the bands out there. Pretty much every show I've seen...the bassist is weilding a presision.

i have a squier p. its green, and its set up and sounds as good as any fender i've played, minus my uncles old 60's jazz, but that is a fucking dream machine, and is loaded with active emgs. its all about feel and sound.

squires are fine if your planning on using it as a starter bass and buying another in a year or so, but i personally and i think many others cant afford to buy two in that short a timespan.

several people i know with squires had them shit out on them after a year or so.

one kid i know has a fender jazz five string, he doesnt use it much though, he mostly uses a stingray.
i personally dont know much about 5-strings, i dont like them. unneccessary if you ask me.

you would have paid almost the same and could have probably haggled it down to less at a music store and you wouldn't have to deal with it being damaged during shipping or anything

It turns out they wanted like 100 more for shipping, so I got a refund. However, I won another one over for 80 bucks + 22 for shipping...sooo 102 isn't bad, and I would have just gone to a local place to get a used one but I am cursed with being left-handed :headshake

It sucks ass, shit costs more and harder to come by. This Ebay seller was an actual music store though, so I don't think I will have to worry too much about shitty service...or so I hope. *knocks on wood*

It was out in CA, they said the UPS wanted 100 dollars to ship it "professionally."

professionaly means they throw it around a little less or the seller just wanted to pocket some extra cash

A squier. Only difference is it's black instead of green. Oh yeah dude, and I asked you in the "post pictures of your stuff" thread how your amp is, cause that's the one I am looking into, does it play well with a band?

Scott Irvine

Depends on what your bandmates have. My guitarists both have Fender 120s I believe. Of couse, we never turn them all the way up in practice. So we can adjust the volume on each 'til it evens out for all three of us.

During shows(with everyones cranked up) yes it can and does compete with guitarists. Its a good pick. I havent had any problems with it. Its extremely light for how much power it has, too.

Its a good pick. Go for it.

Well my friend who would be playing guitar has a fender amp, it's an older model I'm not too sure what it's stats are...but it's one 12-inch speaker, it gets insanely loud though even when it's really low, but yeah thanks a lot I think I'm gonna go with it.

Just because I feel like it. Heres some pictures from my bands VERY FIRST practice over a year and a half ago. Check how fat I was back then :headshake Those jeans were baggy and make my legs look huge. Haha. :animateds

Zach(the drummer) looks so enthusiastic. Heh.
