Dream State (www.purevolume.com/dreamstate) have been getting a significant amount of attention from major and large independent labels.

In my opinion, They sound NOTHING like Copeland, and if you think Copeland are the originators of piano in rock based music, you're oblivious to life.

Dream State is a wonderful band. I've seen them probably about 4 times or so, and they have a pretty sweet sound live. Not to mention Nick has an incredible voice on and off stage; not like singers who sound good on a cd but horrible live. But yeah, there's nothing like fun piano pop-rock to get you jumping around like these guys do.

The first sentence of their purevolume description really hit the nail on the head:

Anyone can imitate a certain image and sound that is becoming the norm in the music scene.

needless to say, they sound alright.

im not sure that this news is true.
i am curious what the sources are on this one, because a few industry folk saw them the other day, then had dinner wtih me after and were really dissapointed with this band live, and are in fact not interested in them. but maybe there are more then that, im not sure.

their live show is very dissapointing compared to the recordings but best of luck to them, they are nice guys and such so i hope it works out for them and im wrong.

If heading out to a show to see a band isn't a sign of interest, than I don't know what is. You answered your own question as to wheher this news is true or not.

I have to say that I've been really impressed with this band since last summer. I found their track, "Shes Outlined In Chalk' on Garageband.com and didn't even know they were from the Phoenix area until after I heard it. I was impressed. Live, the vocalist sounds just like he does on CD. It's amazing. Nick Garza is a great songwriter and musician. I wish them the best of luck!
