So for my English class our teacher gave us some extra credit. We have to present a song that follows the beliefs of Henry David Thoreau. Basically, a song that is about being an individual, nonconforming, or "marching to the beat of your own drum." Living your own life instead of people telling you how to.

So does anyone have any ideas for songs I could present?

So far one of my friends has thought of Fat Lip by Sum 41.

"...But What Will They Say" by This Providence

here's some of the lyrics:

Baby, I'm afraid
Oh, God, I'm afraid
What will people say?
What will they say?
Well, some days I couldn't care less
And others I'm scared half to death
Don't wanna work so hard just to have a heart attack

Throw my hands in the air
As if it really matters what they say
Can I just be myself?
Well, I won't forfeit my soul for a pretty penny
Are you listening?
Do I make myself clear?

hope that helps

The obvious: A Wilhelm Scream - "When I Was Alive: Walden III"

Also, Eddie Vedder - "Society"

edit: whoops, I'm a little late.
