Everything good costs money these days :( it's not fair, shouldn't have to pay to have something you made copyrighted.

It's free if you do it through ASCAP. The way it works is that anything you decide to publish just becomes copyrighted, just read about it.

Also theres a thing referred to as a "poor man's Copyright", which holds up in the law. All you have to do is get the cd or whatever it is you want to copyright, put it in a self adressed envelope and mail it to yourself and never open it, oh and also include the date. Then if anyone steals your stuff you can say but on this date I mailed it to myself so obviously i was the owner before.. you get the point.. i learnt about it at music school

there is an implied copyright on anything you put online that can logically be dated (i.e. uploading a song to myspace.)
