quick question: why do you want to record onto a cassette tape?

Tapes? I remember reading about those, I heard they worked great in the cretaceous period.
Haha, only playing. If you must man, if you must, but digital recording is really the way to go these days. I rarely see kids with demo tapes anymore, it just seems easier to record on a comp, or at the very least, record with friends and burn the recordings to CD.

get an 8-track.... 4 tracks is nothing.
i dont know much, since im looking to buy one as well, but my friend has a digital 8-track and half the time he ends up mastering the songs and loading them back onto one track because 8 isnt enough.
just think, if youre going to have anything more than 1 guitar, 1 bass, 1 drum track (two mikes on the drums is bad enough quality), and one vocal track, youre going to want more.
and if i remember right, i listened to your stuff and its pretty damn good, you and your songs deserve more that 4 tape-recorded tracks dude.

If you're really serious about recording a demo, then it shouldn't be too big of a deal to wait until you have enough money to record with semi-decent equipment. Just my opinion though. If you're just doing it for fun though, then go for it. But then again, you could always just get a 10 dollar tape recorder and put it in your playing space.

For cassette recording that will do you fine. But cassette recording should be avoided.
My advice, save and buy a Presounus Firepod and get a firewire interface for your computer. The best audio interface for value on the market if you plan on any future recording.

I suggest going to a studio. That's what my band did, and the demos came out really good.

but you have to make sure it's a decent studio. Our demos sound awesome (quality not the actual music haha) And some of my friends have liek 8 tracks and stuff and they dont come out as clean as actually recording. And i know digital recorders and such can be expensive.
