I went to go see treos last night in CT and Gatsby played with them. I had listened to Ribbons and Sugar ages ago but never really got into it. I've listened to all the hype about their new stuff and I have to say I was very dissapointed. They were not very impressive and I think that everyone just talks about how great they are because it's the cool thing to do.

I dislike them with a passion.
I think they are great musically, but vocally the singer is not my thing. I wish that he'd stop whining and just sing. It doesn't fit the music. No offense to those who love this band. I mean I love high pitched bands (Mars Volta and Coheed) but his voice seems a little out of place.

I saw them in concert once with The Spill Canvas. I thought the singer was just... gay, not a great performer like it seems everyone thinks.

I cannot get enough of this band, I don't see how everyone all of a sudden jumped on the "I don't like GAD anymore" bandwagon?
and how is the singer's voice high??

i saw them with circa survive and was incredibly let down. the lead singer does these dance moves that almost seem choreographed, and you're like wtf? i was a little embarssed for them really. they were the headliner at the show i went to, and 2/3's of the crowd left during their set. :/
but i <3 scott weber.

Man, you hit the nail on the head right there. Yup, all the people like them because it's the cool thing to do. That's why I listen to all the music I listen to because it's gets me in with the popular crowd and it helps me get lots of friends.

Ha.
When I saw them, The Spill Canvas opened, just him alone, then GAD, then .. Madcap? (Whoever sings "Bright Lights, Big City") was the headliner. EVERYBODY left. There were like 4 kids left in the crowd when they finished.
Well, I'm guessing. I left after 4 or 5 songs and there were about 10 people left.

well let's see, I think I would know if the singer hits high notes and/or has a high-sounding voice, seeing how I am a fan of the band and I actually do take the time to listen to them

I listened to them today, also I fucking take choir so I would know what is high for a male to be singing and what wouldn't be. What he is singing with is called a falsetto, or fake high voice. Its a certain placement of tome and breath support that allows a singer to sing outside there average range.

Is that all you've learned in choir?

No, you learn about support and shit, but i'm not the most musical person around so I can't get into specific notes and whatnot.

We were supposed to see Gatsby's American Dream with TREOS( Amazing band, and great live show!!) but had to leave early. I wish we could have stayed. Their music is different something that makes you want to listen more. In my opinion anyways.
i tried to get into them and i thought they were good nothing spectacular like people say though

Yeah I didn't care for them much and was getting soo tired of always seeing them get over hyped and I am finally giving their new cd a chance and I'll admit its good musically but the vocals kill it, just something about his voice gets on my nerves

I love them. Maybe its possible that they are a great band and have a lot of fans who actually like their music. But that would be impossible because everyone who likes a band that you dont like is just doing it because it is the cool thing to do.
