Im asking for some of your opinions on effects pedals.....mainly a good distortion pedal but also any other ideas would be good.....like the most common/important ones to get....

if anyone owns or has used the Uber-Metal pedal from Line6 a small review would be nice....thanks

If you're looking for Distortion pedal, The MT-2 from Boss is pretty decent. There are some great pedals out there, Digitech makes some phenominal ones, (Metal Master, The Weapon)

As long as you keep your gain down, you'll sound great.

Oh, if you have the money for it, I'd suggest looking into a Line 6 Pod. These things are multi-effects, but they kick ever so much ass. They have a fantastic variety of tones, and are used by some very high -up people. I saw one in a picture of Slipknot's studio.

Slipknot = Bad
Slipknot's Production = Tres Magnifique

I have a Digitech Metal Master. It's a very good pedal, you can mod and tweak it to almost any type of distortion you darn well please.

You could get the Line 6 pod live where you can switch. And yes, you can use any of the effects together, it's a massive tone producing bitch.

The worlds BEST distortion pedal is the Hot Cake.

Take a look at the reviews on Harmony Central. A Hot Cake is bloody expensive but so worth it, from blues grunt to tubescreamer power the pedal covers it. It doesn't mess up your signal and lets all your little dynamics come through. Also has a great low end. They're $270 NZ and quite hard to find since they're New Zealand made.

Pedals to avoid however, almost anything Boss. Seriously, this is a brand that sells only on it's name. If you can find an old Japanese DS-1 I would suggest that. It's not very heavy though so you'll want amp overdrive or another overdrive pedal if you want really heavy sounds.

Basicly go for botique pedals (Hot Cake, Tonebone, V-Twin Pre Amp) or old school pedals (Make sure they aren't reissues) such as the Ibanez Tubescreamer or Boss DS1.

Other pedals, for Delay the Boss DD-6 is the best value for money. 6 seconds of delay and a lot of options. If you're rich my advice would be a DD-20.

Boss makes bad pedals? What? They're effective and small. If you just set things right they sound fine. The DS-1 is decent, but it should be modified.

Simply put, the new Boss pedals are bad when it comes to distortion. They are made on cheaper electronics and built on Korea/China. They lack the depth of the Japanese pedals or the versatility. When compared to an 80's Tubescreamer the pedals sound like something D'Aradio would make.
