10 Favorite Albums of 2008
in no particular order, i suppose that's not the point but in any case these were the records i liked the best that came out this year and therefore listened to the most.
MGMT - 'Oracular Spectacular'
we would listen to this ALL the time on tour and dance dance dance, in the dressing room, on the bus, at the airport, walking down the street. i will forever have amazing memories of good times attached to this record
Vampire Weekend - 'S/T'
Kings of Leon- 'Only By The Night' i tried to turn everyone on to this album one at a time. i took our tour manager aside and got him drunk and made him love it, it worked on pretty much everyone. there were a few stragglers but i think people will come around. this album has emotion to it and its subtle and moving.
Death Cab for Cutie - 'Narrow Stairs'
i listened to this the whole time we were in australia and it grew more dense in terms of musicality, texture and content with each listen. this is a real good headphone jammer
Tokyo Police Club - 'Elephant Shell'
Lil Wayne - 'Tha Carter III'
one of my good friends has been trying to turn me on to lil wayne for years now, now i need someone to turn me off. i cant stop listening to this record
Sigur Ros - 'Med sud i eyrum vid spilum endalaust'
i think these cats created a new emotion when they made this record. other music doesnt sound the same to me any more and i had one particular incident involving a bicycle, a bum and two hot dogs covered in mayonnaise that will haunt me forever.
Crystal Castles- 'S/T' i like to dance
M83 - 'Saturdays=Youth'
i like to dance slower and more meaningful
Coldplay - 'Viva La Vida'
there it is, songs and albums i have pumped through stereo systems and headphones all over the world and entertained/annoyed my friends with in 2008.
