It feels like its been forever since I've heard a new rock album that I couldn't put down. Any recommendations?

Suburban Home records end of year sampler (http://www.suburbanhomerecords.com/mediafiles/others/xmas2008/christmas2008sampler.zip), not a bad song in the bunch.

To say that that the bands you listed describe an eclectic taste in music is somewhat humorous.

First of all I never said anything about an eclectic taste. I said I'm all over the place, and I listed a few of my favorites. I apologize if my musical tastes aren't up to your elitist standards. If you have a continuing problem you can shove it up your ass. To those who actually read this and are being helpful, thanks. To the douche bags, don't waste my time by replying.

Eclectic would be the same as having a taste that is "all over the place."

And my recommendation to you is to check out Autopilot Off. A good pop-punk band that broke up well before they could really make an impact. Which is unfortunate since they're so much better than 99% of the music within the current "scene".

I know what the word eclectic means. If you would like a more in depth response to what I like, I'd go with Pinback, The Chariot, Coldplay, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Kanye West, The Game, Saves the Day, Glassjaw, RHCP, +44, Yesterdays Rising, Casino, Pink Floyd etc. And I do like AO. I was hoping for something that was released kinda recently so that I might not have been introduced to the band yet or might not have heard the material. Sorry if I came across as an asshole before, I just hate being judged for things as petty as taste in music.

therefore you shouldn't know how to write yet.

With that said, your taste is impeccable for somebody in your demographic. I salute you.

If my gender played a role in the quality of my writing, it would never improve; therefore, the bolded "yet" would be unnecessary. ;-)

That's a very understandable statement. Not only do you have Weaver at the Loom, but also Camera Can't Lie, Jamestown Story, Owl City, Swimming With Dolphins, etc., etc... Consider yourself lucky to live in such a musically developed vicinity.

I really like the lyrical integrity behind "Dakota" and the harmonizing is absolutely breathtaking. Since the release of the self-titled EP, I personally think they've improved from sounding like every band within this particular genre to something worthwhile and memorable.

As for seeing them live, I've never had the opportunity to do so. I live in such a rap-driven suburban area that any non-rapper with a stable mind (in terms of finances) wouldn't consider coming here -- unless of course they just want to satisfy their one fan within a five-hundred mile radius: me.

You should go on a roadtrip to see them. I've gone as far as 500 miles to see them since I am so ridiculous. This summer, I pretty much saw them every other week.

Dakota is my sister's favorite song. They wrote a new song called Gone that is about their friend from Avery who died back in March. That song is breathtaking live. The first time they played it, both Eric and Travis (who isn't playing with them anymore) lost their shit and started crying. And I lost my dad around the same time, so of course, I cried, too.

I convinced my parents to drive my brother and me to see The Mile After play six hours away from my house... My dad actually enjoyed listening to them (which is pretty shocking seeing as he doesn't have much toleration for post-'70s bands and could easily be compared to a corporate businessman; though, in reality, he's an absentminded professor). Anyway, I haven't seen any CCL tour dates near the south lately, but I'll keep a lookout for them.

Do you have any idea where I can listen to "Gone"? I searched for it but couldn't find it.

On a side note, I can just imagine the community that evolved and tears that shed in that venue that particular night. I've always found music to have some sort of surreal quality that makes listening to it so enjoyable and relatable. I'm glad you got to experience that in a time where things like that seem impossible. I'm very sorry about your loss.

Hahaha. That could change in an instant. Although I've only been here for a few days, I've already realized that a vast majority of the users on this site are so critical of anything and everything they can scrutinize. Once you make one mistake (whether it be grammatical, musical, ethical...), your AP.net life is screwed.

Well, it's screwed if you're weak and can't take it. I haven't exactly been popular for most of my tenure here, but I'm bringing it back around and people like you more if you just stick it through.

But grammatical mistakes don't bode well in front of me, though the worst I'll do is correct you haha.

The weakness and can't take it won't be a problem for me. I'm not much of a physical warrior, but debating and talking back are practically my professions. Thanks for the advice, though. I'll try to keep it in mind in my future arguments.

Grammar is more meaningful to me than any other eighth grader I know. I'm probably the only thirteen year old that texts with capital letters and correct punctuation... It's a bit sad that people are educated 7+ hours a day but don't think that any of what they learned should apply to them after that 7 hours.

For starters, the soul-fueled falsetto matched with the simplistic folk melodies provide for a beautiful aural experience
