Drama/Gossip:
Band members from Avenged Sevenfold (www.avengedsevenfold.com) and Atreyu (www.atreyurock.com) lead singer Alex Varkatzas were apparently spotted at a Los Angeles gym this weekend. Sources say they were talking, hanging out and were totally amicable with one another. Any question that they were beefing was immediately squashed when they were all seen laughing about Tony Brummel's (Victory Records President) attempt to turn a mis-quote into a make-believe feud.

who likes the new avenged sevenfold album? i heard it and was shocked beyond comprehension. i do <3 the new finch album though i must say and why dont these bands beat the fuck outta tony or something like not literally i guess but metaphorically. BOYCOTT! haha jk kind of

I personally did not like the New Avenged Sevenfold Album though I didn't really like their last album either, I guess I'm just not a fan but I do agree with your view on the new Finch Album.

I grew up loving the Victory catalogue. This guy’s image has ruined any faith I have in them now. I know it's about the music, but still the thought of this guy makes me cringe.

i like both atreyu and a7x. they got me into listening to harder stuff. the new album is different just cause he can't scream anymore but it's like old school metal now. :-D
but apart from that. Tony is a dick and needs to be replaced by someone who has more respect for the bands.

haha, I listen to the new avenged 7x on the way to the gym every night....damn i'm a meathead.
and A7x kicks atreyu's ass in any category, songwriting, mucicianship and M. Shadows is bigger than anyone in Atreyu.
the new A7X owns by the way, great album, a little different, but still as awesome as 'waking the fallen'

unfortunately, the owner of a company can't be 'replaced'...kinda hard to fire the guy who signs the paychecks
also, M. shadows can scream, they made a conscious decision to have a more singing oriented album and less screaming and said in an interview they wanted to get away from the screaming on the last cd but didn't want to alienate fans...

In my opinion Avenged Sevenfold is a good band. I just think people are accustom to this phase of grindcore Metal-Growing trend (and that's fine if that's your thing). But I don't think it’s entirely necessary to call them "pussies" or "gay" just because they're style isn't currently popular or they've moved on from their grunting and growling phase. I think anyone who has ever picked up a guitar can see how talented A7X really is. You can't deny that they are talented songwriters. Anyone in a decent band can see how well they craft music. Maybe I see things differently since I've played music for a few years.

all of that labels big stars are leaving/left/or will leave in the upcoming year. (i.e. thursday to island, taking back sunday to warner brothers)
plus, he doesn't even push bands that deserve it. he pushes hawthorne heights and now they're on mtv2 non-fucking-stop, while streetlight manifesto (arguably the hardest working ska band out there right now) have been on tour for almost three consecutive years promoting the same album and have not gotten one bit of credit from tony by at least doing something for them, how about even mentioning them in the victory news letter?
now this shit. why would the president of his own label even want to start a feud between his own bands? for fucking publicity and for fucking money. tony is a big fucking sellout and i have sympathy for anyone who was led into this hell-for-a-label.

This is true....but then you have hawthorne heights...a totaly different story. They love tony because they were lucky in the victory game. You sign 10 bands, and the one that catch's on you promote like hell. The others get no push, and are screwed for all future projects because of some long contract tony makes them sign. They can break up, only to get a new name, and be put out on victory with a huge sticker saying (BLAH BLAH INSERT EX VICTORY BAND NAME___)
But we all know what will happen with hawthorne because tony eventualy screws bands that like him. LIke with tbs, and now with what we are seeing with atreyu.

When streetlight toured europe recently, tony wouldnt send them any cds or help them out.
I work for a booking agency and talk to works at victory all the time, they talk about how he reads there emails.

That's good to hear. I am a fan of both bands, so it's good to know they don't hate each other.
Did A7X stop screaming because his vocal cords, or something like that. Or did they really want to write the album this way...I know in the MTV article they said it was a choice and they werent forced into it due to health reasons. But I would say that too if the lead singer couldnt do it anymore, it sounds better that way than to admit that they arent physically capable of producing the style they want anymore
