I'm not sure how this will turn out...
The reason I do this is because I wanna know it MM has affected anyone elses lives as much as mine.
Some of you who have only listened to Good News... don't know the how amazing their old stuff is. You guys need to pick up their old shit.

I'd go for The Moon and Antartica or Building Nothing Out of Something as first picks of their old stuff.
yeah
wasnt Moon and Antartica on Sony Records? but they never made a video for it?

I hate Modest Mouse. They're from right near my hometown...I hate their image, I've always hated their vocalist, and the music is too eclectic for me. I like some weird shit, but Modest Mouse is just weird for the sake of being weird, I swear.

Issaq's voice may steer some people away, but Ive grown to love it.

i think thats sort of how it strikes me, it seems like theyre trying to hard, it just doesnt doesn't feel real to me; it doesnt flow or something.
yeah, his voice is the same way i think.

Weird in terms of lyrics or music? If you think the music is weird then I dont quite agree with you. The lyrics are quirky(sp?), but not "weird".
I dont see how weird is a factor in not being likable. Weird is different. Different is good.

weird AND different are very good. like Radiohead's Kid A...holy shit. But I believe Radiohead when they're doing it. I believe that it's real, and genuine. I just..don't buy it with Modest Mouse.
Modest Mouse's lyrics are a bit off, but the vocals mixed with the music...never did it for me. His stage presence and the way the band presents itself has always come across as "trying to hard" to me. I just think they're terrible and incredibly annoying.

I like all of their stuff. I like Brock's voice / yell. I know a lot of people hate it but I think its different.

agree to disagree.
I don't think anybody knows what it means. Scholars maintain the translation was lost thousands of years ago.
Doesn't it mean...Saint Diego?
No.
Yes, that's what it means.
Well...agree to disagree.

I love you man. I have been obsessing over Modest Mouse for a few years now. The first album i picked up by them was The Lonesome Crowded West. After i listened to some of their other stuff I realized that TLCW is unsually heavy for them. Anyways my favorite album would have to be The Moon And Antartica.

Its funny how two years ago NOBODY knew who this band was. They were the last band I thought would go mainstream. They're one of my favorites.

--On the way to god don't know
my brain's the burger and my heart's the coal--
out of what i've heard from them of their old stuff i have no intention on listening to their new album...their old stuff is amazing and original and the new album doesn't sound too great
yes the man has a weird voice and the music is different, and so are the lyrics, but it all combines to make a really cool sound
