I spoke to my friend who plays in a band on triple crown don't really want to stay who, but I asked him in passing about what is going on with Brand New and apparently what happened is basically they wrote a new album Dreamworks didn't like it so they wrote an entirely new album which explains the long period of time and they are living together and they are getting along completely fine and they are recording the new cd and things are going fantastic. On top of that he was telling me about the deal they got from Dreamworks and these guys are doing pretty damn good for themselves. So a lot of this stuff is probably things you already know but just saying what i was told today

Almost too funny that this sort of thing happened again, (I'm sure you're well aware that they lost the entire "Your Favorite Weapon" album when they recorded it and had to start all over again). But good to hear things are still going well. And good to see you post! It's been a while, I've missed my favorite Long Islander!

So they wrote a personal, creative record, but their label didn't like it so they decided to record a whole new one to please them? This is what's wrong with music today.

Even if it is only one song, it doesn't make a difference. Either way, they're still whoring their music to the record suits to please them. Sad.

well, simply, brand new isnt known for being the smartest band around...i mean, they make good music, deja entendu was an instant classic for me. but that doesnt make them smart.

How are they not smart???? I've never seen or heard anything that proves this theory.

read post # 10. that proves my point. and read post # 11, that proves it further
read post # 10. that proves my point. and read post # 11, that proves it furtherYou never gave examples on how Brand New "aren't smart." Those two don't count, you were counterracting what I said with them. If you really think so give proof.

example 1: re-recording music just to impress execs
example 2: not getting exclusive rights to creativity
example 3: waiting this long to put out an album
example 4: not releasing more singles from deja entendu
example 5: not releasing at least a single from the new album
need more?

example 1: could be in their contract, i doubt they're re-doing it or whatever to try and "impress" anyone.
example 2: was my example. and they are stupid for not doing that.
example 3: doesnt seem like its their fault. and you cant force it. it has to happen.
example 4: what would have been the next single? "I Will Play My Game Beneath the Spin Light" already got radio play and was presumed as their 3rd single.
example 5: DEFINITELY has to do with their contract and will have record co. approval. which blows.

i don't know he said dreamworks how the hell would i know if he's correct. its valid don't believe me if you don't want to i just found it interesting. it isnt kevin devine to whoever asked i wish and thank you jamiej ive been very busy lately with some projects ive been working on. but to pat i think the intially were with dreamworks and then dreamworks was bought by interscope or something like that again its just information that was given to me. but yes im very much so looking foward to it and i really don't think its any of the bands fault i think the label has a lot of pressure and money invested in them having even bigger success then Deja. think of it this way fall out boy's last cd wasnt nearly as big as Deja and fall out boy's new cd sold a ton and has gotten a lot of airplay and press so Brand New has a lot of weight on their shoulders in terms of how big this next album is along the likes of TBS and fall out boy. but back to the cellar adios

well, if thats true, they should just leak the old throwaway record because, hell, the record pigs dont want it, so who gives a shit, yes?
i don't expect this thing out any time soon, basically written it off sort of. im expecting nothing. and im saddened by that. :\

Interesting. As much as I know this kid is reliable his source is probably not real close to the band so it might just be heresay. Either way, we'll just have to wait (hopefully not much longer) and see.

my friends band is on the label i think its easy to tell what band it is because i think there are only 2 bands on triple crown so its gotta be one of those two. but hes reliable and i mean from what i've heard they are head first into recording and finally finishing it up and it'll be good thats the one thing i can put my life on theyve worked too hard for it to come out shitty. but hey all we can do is sit and wait im just hoping to hear a release timetable soon from someone

if this is true, its pretty sad Brand New would scrap a whole cd because a label didn't like it, isn't that the reason the label signed them in the first place

interscope bought out their contract, brand new are label mates with g-unit now.
actually deja had 3 official singles and 4 if you count spin-light. guernica was the first single, sic transit and quiet things were 2nd and 3rd.
example 5: not releasing at least a single from the new album
are you retarded? if they arent done with the new album, how the fuck would they have a single?
