Edit: I just caught on to the recent plans. Damn... my brother took all of our season DVDs to his fiancee's house. I'll have to turn my laptop on and find the ep. Are they all still on ABC?

Alextisonfire
12/22/08, 05:30 PM
If you want to kill time, I recommend watching How I Met Your Mother at 8:30

TMBTC will hopefully have some stuff that we'll pick up on more this time around after learning more about the 5th season.

Undoubtably the best comedy on TV. Too bad there won't be a new episode until late january. One of my favorite eps is on tonight though, Slapsgiving! what a legendary episode.

yup, every single ep actually. I used it the other day to watch a season 4 episode. Its a pretty good player, although you will get a little behind because of those 30 second things. I'll look for another link without commercial breaks.

poppa Q
12/22/08, 05:42 PM
joining in?

Perhaps! I just finished watching Frost/Nixon (not to change the subject from LOST) so I may move on to my next downloaded Oscar contender, but we'll see.

Also, I'm very happy to see Lapidus on the press release's cast list.

nivek87
12/22/08, 05:51 PM
also, people watching online, here is a good stream of it. it isn't as pretty as the abc player as in terms of quality, but you won't get behind when they have the 30 sec interruptions and such. Hopefully everyone has a fast enough connection if they let it load now, that it should be good for the entire way through.

I am, and it was really really great. Direction was brilliant and I thought Michael Sheen did a fantastic job opposite Langella, who seems to be a lock for a Best Actor nomination. And I would say that yes, if you're the type if individual who would drive 45 minutes to see a movie, it is absolutely worth it. One of the year's best.

this scene upsets me. the fact of the matter is, Locke tricked all of the others. Ben said, Locke, himself had to kill his father, not go and get Sawyer to do so. weak sauce locke, weak sauce.

yeah, i've always assumed its a turn of a new page. No longer will Jacob communicate with Ben, but Locke now. Ben has lived the life of a pharisee like john mentions in the man from tallahassee and that has to displease Jacob. Right now, I'm really curious about the Arrow station. Did it have an original purpose other than storage facility? There has to be more to it for Goodspeed to have been assigned there. He's a mathematician, so what in the world went on there.

According to the the bible, I think its the bible, Jacob is Aaron's great grandfather. So if this was true, then yes, He would be Jack's grandfather.

Edit: Obviously Lost doesn't go by what the Bible says, I'm just saying that's what the bible says.

This is the only spoiler I've ever read for the upcoming season, and I will not read any more, not even in this thread, but they are casting for Jack's grandfather for Season 5. So this is very possible.

Yeah, that's been my only thought about Jacob's identity, but once I came to the realization of the Jacob/Aaron great grandfather situation, I thought there may be some merit to my suspicions. Yay! New thread.

With this new thread, I bring good news.

January 13th, the return of Drew (Drudo)
That is awesome news. Hopefully we see the return of some classic moment on lost as well.

Ha, I did the same thing. I got free passes to see Frost/Nixon as well. Brillant movie and as you said, Langella completely knocks it out as Nixon. I was really impressed by Michael Sheen though.

Didn't the producers mention something about the Volcano with season 6 that they may or may not have been joking about?
Yeah, I kinda of wonder though if it has something to do with the end of the show.

The whole "help me" thing refers to Jacob's unhappiness with Ben and desire to have Locke take the lead for the island correct?

Thats what i assume, thats why i feel like ben gets so angry
I never really thought of it like that before. I think I might have assumed too much into that whole comment. I thought maybe it had to do with something bigger but that makes more sense. I like the idea that Ben and Jacob didn't always get along but eventually Ben got over Jacob choosing Locke over him. I really don't prefer when a character gets locked into a obvious agenda and I'm glad that didn't happen with Ben. Though I'm really curious to know why he wants to go back to the island. I doubt thought Ben would want to live anywhere else. I'm curious to know if even Ben has some unresolved issues on the island like with Ana.

I still feel like Jacob is going to be Jack's granddaddy.
I don't think so. That's a bit too obvious and I remember hearing the creators say that Jacob was someone we've already seen before. I may be wrong on that though.

I'm not positive because I don't have a source, but I believe they said it's someone we've "heard but not seen." Also, it really wouldn't be all that obvious, perhaps more logical. When you think about it, the importance of their lineage has been revealed slowly and sporadically throughout the season (finally coming to understand Christian's importance on the island -- to an extent -- Aaron be Jack's nephew, etc.). I do understand where you're coming from, but if it did turn out that way it would still surely be considered a "WTF" moment for a majority of the shows fanbase, and even for those who dig more deeply into the show would be less surprised, but realize how perfectly it may (or eventually may not) make sense in the grand scheme of things. Who knows.

yeah you do.
The phone call scene in "The Constant" gets me every single time. But I don't know, the reunion doesn't do it for me.
Yeah The Constant phone call was priceless. It really couldn't have been done better. Des and Pennys relationship is the only show I've actually been interested in a show romance. I still liked the reunion just because i really didn't see it coming, but i think it could of been done a bit better. definitely felt real, but it was in the foresight really because it was in-between the possible death of Jin, the island moving, and the reveal that locke was in the coffin. It was a very intense and jammed packed last hour of tv.
Now Claire's reaction to Charlie dying was a disappointment.
Yeah, I hear you loud and clear on that one. Two disappointments. one, aarons drive shaft ring just chilling in the beach cradle. two, they made such a good story out of charlies greatest hits list, sucks it got wet and ruined.
Just finished disc two of season two...this show really is meant to be watched four episodes at a time. So wonderful to watch it that way.

I was trying to say, maybe just maybe if it is a character we have already known and met, that maybe the reason Jacob said, "Help me" had to do with something that character had going on at the time. For example, just as an example, if Jacob was Jack and somewhere on the island Jack really needed help because something bad was happening, something would trigger Jacob to say "help me" because Jack needed help. However, I really don't think its as simple as Jack and unfortunately all the characters I can think of were decent at the time of TMBTC.

The only possible person I could think of that has some sense to it would be Abaddon. As an orderly he told Locke he owed him one. Then we hear Jacob say, "help me." If thats the case, John owed him his help.

Do i buy either of these things at all, not really at all, but I'm just spit balling because I am bored haha

Random thought. At the beginning of TMBTC John says, he'll ask Richard to take him to see Jacob and Ben says how he is the only one who talks and sees Jacob. Makes it seem like a pecking order type of scenerio, but Ben might have meant he is the only one who actually sees Jacob since he mocks John for not being able to see him in the cabin.

EDIT: who else thinks this thread will break 5,000 before season 5 begins? I think its definitely possible, we broke it in pretty darn well in these 8 hours its been active. If we average that many posts a day, a new thread would begin in about 28 days.

So, did anyone find the source where the writers say Jacob is someone we already know? Or is it already heard?

If anyone is the forerunner in this, it has to be Locke. That would make sense of the Dalai Lama esque test that Richard did on him. Locke is Jacob reincarnated? Yeah, I'm not completely into this because there are holes and it's reaching, but I like the idea.

I agree with both of these. After Locke became this island hippie and went over to Ben's side, his decline on my list started.

At the end of the 4th season, when Locke comes out of the Orchid and Richard welcomes him, it's like they are acknowledging that he is the successor. The thing is tho, Richard shows up in different episodes, at different points of time (Locke as a child, Ben as a child in the forest, etc), so I wouldn't be surprised if Richard has a more intricate role in the island, especially the issue of Jacob. Then again, we see Christian Shephard on the boat before it blows up, in the cabin where Jacob lives and Jack has never really had any hallucinations, but he did see his father on the island too.

I think that there are way too many theories and people that have these hair-brained ideas about the show to give into any of them.

I'll have to watch it later, since I can't at work, but you may be right. I just figured that he leaned over and whispered it, in secret, so it would be something that wouldn't be audible. The voices in the jungle would make more sense to be decipherable, but even some of those are just random whispers. When they want you to hear it and know it, you can definitely make it out. What strange phone calls? I don't really recall those.

Though, when that bird/terydactal took a swan-dive, I did hear it yell Hurley's name. That was funny, especially since Sawyer made fun of him for it.

I agree with you 100%, Penny & Desmond had me going. I didn't feel it at all with Claire.

For some reason, I didn't watch all of the last episode the first time (There's No Place Like Home 2 & 3), but I read in the other LOST thread that the reunion between Desmond and Penny was good. When I watched it, I think that it was great, but could have been a little more exciting. They both knew that each other were out there, but they still looked at one another like they had never met. Granted, they had been separated for a ton of years, but I wanted a little more.

As far as Claire goes, I really liked her for a while but then I started to not like her. Her reactions to Charlie were so hot-and-cold, but Charlie was madly in love with her. It was like she wrote him off, let him back in, wrote him off and then kissed him, heard that he died and was like 'Eh, that's sad' and then went on with it.

I mean, I understand the whole thing where Charlie took Aaron out to the ocean, but I really don't think that he, himself, was going to hurt the baby. As a mother, I'm sure she was justified in being upset, but look at all the things that he did for her. Little things like the fake peanut butter or the big things he did by going into the jungle, almost dying and being worried about her/Aaron getting off the island (he chose to die because it would get them off the island). In the end, Claire went back to forgetting about him and everything he did for her and Aaron.

I agree with both of these. After Locke became this island hippie and went over to Ben's side, his decline on my list started.

At the end of the 4th season, when Locke comes out of the Orchid and Richard welcomes him, it's like they are acknowledging that he is the successor. The thing is tho, Richard shows up in different episodes, at different points of time (Locke as a child, Ben as a child in the forest, etc), so I wouldn't be surprised if Richard has a more intricate role in the island, especially the issue of Jacob. totally.

richard kind of confuses me, but i feel like he wouldn't allow john locke to become their new leader if it wasn't for a reason, because i'm sure that with the access he has to the space/time continuum he has seen the future.

i don't really understand how jacob kind of assumed christian's body but i think that since he had an unnatural arrival to the island (dead) that might have something to do with it. possibly.

i feel like the writers acknowledge that locke's character took a turn for the worse just like they acknowlege that the cast split may cause displeasure. i'm sure they're gonna bring him back as some sort of hero (by the island's means) just becuase he was such a solid well liked character before the hatch came about. the only reason that i can think of why they evolved him into someone more tense and self-absorbed is because he seemed too perfect or even somewhat of an equilivant to jacob the first season. i think that's why they didn't have him kill his dad himself, because he seemed like such a hunter that they wanted to show that there are some things john locke CANT do lol. they had to let us know that he is really human. at least in my opinion thats where i think they were going with that.

On G4 last night they were showing "Left Behind", which is the flashback Kate meets Cassidy. I'm pretty intrigued if what Sawyer whispered in Kate's ear, and the favor she did for Sawyer in "Something Nice Back Home" are all connected to Cassidy/Clementine. And if it is, I'm excited to see how that all plays out.
That's what confuses me, though. I'm convinced that Sawyer did have Kate run this errand for him and it is likely that Kate was on the phone with Cassidy, however, Kate was the one who convinced Cassidy to report Sawyer to the police which resulted in him getting arrested. Not only would it be awkward as shit, but whatever Kate had to tell her about Sawyer would have to make Cassidy SO skeptical about the entire situation. I dunno.

However, it was pretty obvious that Claire never shared the same feelings for Charlie that Charlie held for her. And again, starting with Charlie's death to the end of S4 in Jacob's cabin (guided by the creepy mister Miles), we see this transformation in Claire that nobody has any clue as to what's going on with her. There's obviously something deeper there. But I do agree that she really didn't give two shits when she should have at least given one

yeah, it was kind of a disappointment, but then again they didn't really push them having a love story either. a lot of the focus on their relationship was directed toward her being mad at him for doing drugs or him being jealous of locke getting close to her. they never really had like love scenes like with jack kait and sawyer or anything. i wish they had though, they were an adorable couple when they were one. the show really didn't need a 4th love story. plus, nothing could ever compete to desmond and penny in the constant.

Cassidy (the one that helped Kate sneak in to see her mother when the marshalls were waiting) was convinced, by Kate, to get Sawyer arrested. Did I totally miss something? When did Cassidy get Sawyer arrested?

As far as Claire goes, I would agree that she definitely didn't have the same feelings for Charlie, but there were moments when we all knew that she liked him and then to kiss him, after NEVER doing that before, said to me that she did have strong feelings for him. Then he dies and it's too bad for good ol' Charlie Drive Shaft.

Oh okay, I see what you both are saying, but here's my only argument against that.

I just watched the 'Connection" link on ABC for Kate/Sawyer and at the end when Kate tells Cassidy to put him in jail because of what he did, Cassidy asks if Kate would ever forgive her Mom for putting her in jail. Kate said she wouldn't, then the non-verbal/head/facial expression on Cassidy seemed to say "Well, then I wouldn't do it either." Sawyer conned a lot of people and did a lot of dumb things, I figured he could have been in jail for any of the millions of cons.

Thanks for the information, tho. I love this thread.

??? - I wonder why, on ABC's LOST Connection site, they don't link Sawyer with Jack/Christian Shephard. They link Ana Lucia with Sawyer based on fact that Christian opened his car door into him while they were in Sydney. They should have listed Christian or Jack on the Connection since Sawyer did sit down and have drinks with Jack's father and then, in a later episode, tell Jack he did so, once he figured out who that person was.

Also, i hope we find out the miracle Abaddon claimed to experience.

I think i get where you are going with this, but i'm still a bit lost. If i'm following you right, i don't know if i necessarily agree, because i don't know what christian or claire would swarm to jacob for

There's a flashback I really want to see: Ben's first encounter with Jacob

That would be EPIC!

Yeah, I am very curious to so how that plays out too. I just can't wait for the scene where Kate first realizes Sawyers baby mama is good ol Cassidy.

I think its kind of dumb that she did end up sending Sawyer to prison though. In "Left Behind" Kate and Cassidy made an exchange where Cassidy said something like, "will you ever forgive your mom for sending you to jail?" Yet, Cassidy still loving Sawyer, sends him to prison. weird. Does "every man for himself" confirm it was Cassidy who sent him to jail? I feel like he was just caught for a different con job.
