Scott Weber introduced me to an amazing band, The Apprentice (http://www.theapprenticemusic.com), recently and we wanted to give you a heads up because we think they're brilliant and going places. Check them out on their Myspace site (http://www.myspace.com/theapprentice). Also, we'd like you all to go check out the lyrics at their website and read them while keeping in mind that this is a "concept album that tells the story of a man riddled with guilt and regret after impregnating his girlfriend at the young age of 18. The album explores the pressures of dealing with small town politics, pop-culture, and consumerism that has struck America in full force. As the album progresses the listener gets to peer inside the life of each member of this troubled family."

For some bizzare reason, I was in the car last night driving home in the pouring rain (thanks, Seattle) and I had 2 CDs I'd gotten in the mail from Future Destination Records. I popped this in, and with the rain pouring down, the emotions of this album followed it...it's seriously incredible, the concept/lyrics blew me away.

As Scott said, this concept, the lyrics and this guy's voice are brilliant. I'm listeing to the opening track, "We Were Just Eighteen", and I'm getting chills again. Also, when you're reading the lyrics on their website, they have whose POV the song is from next to the title (i.e. husband, son, daughter, etc).

The name has been around long before the show. The track I'll Say No is from the first release "The Epic Struggle" out in 2002.

Ive never heard of these guys and I live in Winston Salem? Anyways, they are pretty good but still not the best new band to come out of the area....that would be House of Fools. Check their live performance at acesbasement.com.

My first "serious" relationship ended after I got back with a girl only to have her get knocked up by some other guy a couple months later. She was 19 when she had the kid. Crazy thing is, we still talk once in awhile and are pretty cool.

yeah dude i know what you mean, i hung out with them last friday..it was good times. i was invited to the babys baptism back in March i think as well. We're pretty close regardless of what happened. lifes too short, me and the guy who got her pregnant are way to close to let shit happen to our friendship, ive known him since preschool. regardless..i was pretty pissed off when he broke us up but thats in the past haha

his voice is good, the lyrics are good, but the style of music, nothing new. but hey, 2 outta three aint bad. plus the acoustic styly stuff is a good vehicle for stuff like this.
