Fan Reports In: "I saw Dredg (www.dredg.com), Circa Survive (www.circasurvive.com) and Pale Pacific the other night. Anthony Green was nothing short of hysterical as he made fun of Reno. Although he may have offended some people in the process, he hit every note perfectly and sounded great! Dredg had a strange long performance and played over 15 songs. Pale Pacific covered Billy Joel."

i was here too. when the show started there was only, at most 30 people there. by the time dredg played maybe 100 had showed up. it was still a crappy turnout. there were a lot of old drunk guys yelling at the pale pacific and circa, though they calmed down by the time dredg played (maybe because anthony started talking to them from the stage during circa's set). as far as i know, none of the bands were too happy with the show, the pale pacific was fairly unhappy with the sound (and rightly so, the feedback just wouldn't stop) and well, i'm sure circa isn't really used to playing to crowds of only 50. haha.

circa was incredible though, and i'm quite excited to see them again in july with say anything while i'm in denver.

I saw Dredg open for Hoobastank last year and I nearly dozed off during their set. I couldn't believe how unbelievably uninteresting they were. That's just my opinion. I don't really like Hoobastank anymore either..meh

they have to be. i mean they played Swayze's before they ever played the Masquerade here. I'm not sure 50 people could get into Swayze's.

wow, haha, that sounds like every venue in reno except this one (which holds like 900 people....yeah, i've only ever seen one show there that actually had that many, and that was when story of the year decided it was a good idea to play a club show in the middle of an arena tour. still, people weren't getting turned away until about halfway through the show).

Go to a more recent show then. It was interesting to me. Hell, just watching Dino on the drums is amazing. Though, I guess The Social provides a more 'intimate' concert experience, especially when you're in front.

ahaha, he managed to break a lot of drumsticks at our show, as well as bouncing one off the floor so hard it hit a light and broke it....i think he was trying to throw it to someone in the crowd, haha.

i saw dredg open for glassjaw on the sno-core tour a few years ago (sparta ddropped off that date thank god) and they were freakin' excellent.

it's too bad their new album is a major step down to a more commercial sound. they even admit they've nixed the progression to go with a conventional approach.

i'll have to check out older dredg. i'm new to them and i guess i like their "sold out" sound. maybe i'll like their earlier sound better. we shall see.

I don't think I would call them "sell outs". They're not doing it to make money, they're doing it so that they can stay on their label and be able to make music in the future.

damn, well, i guess i assumed wrong then. everyone who commented on my lj were like "no way, the show here sold out". i thought the reno kids were just being lame or something haha

nah, they were amazing, i mean they didn't act like nobody was there when they were playing (partially because of the badly positioned lighting, judging from the tourjournal post), i just know that the pale pacific and circa didn't especially like reno. i don't blame them, the sound at the venue is shit and reno isn't an especially nice city. if it wasn't my home i sure wouldn't want to come here for any reason, and if my band was on tour i wouldn't want to go out of our way to play a show here. the promoters don't promote, the sound everywhere is shit, and the audience are assholes. *shrug* there's a reason most bands only play here once unless they've got a lot of friends here (i.e. limbeck).

and wow, that was a really rambly badly phrased post, sorry, it's 4:30am here and i've been sitting in front of this damn computer for 16 hours now haha

im not too intense of a dredg fan, but i am sure about two things:
1. their live show was incredible. i saw them open for the deftones, and they sounded so solid and very intense.
2. el cielo is golden.

I went to see dredg/circa in Santa Cruz last night and it was beyond amazing! Circa had some hardcore fans in the very front of the stage rocking out. Dredg amazed the 1100 people who sold out the Catalyst last night. It was hands down the best show I have seen all year!
