it's not really doing it early. i mean, when the average lifespan of a person was 30, people were married and had kids by 12, 13, 14... whatever, as long as the girl bled, they had kids. as the lifespan increased the general age of marriage (in sophisticated culture, ooga booga tribes don't count) became later. then came the cultural kick about manners and gentlemen, ladies, courting. now since marriage wasn't happening till later people thought sex should wait too.

i think BrandNew20 is right, it's nature. we're reproductively mature around 12-13 (some earlier, some later). so the hormones that cause sexual urges come around that time so people end up doing it before marriage. it's gratification baby.

so in short... sex happens.
