orange are wicked expensive. if you want a nice amp for a reasonable amount of money, get a behringer. they're nice.

The highlights of owning one? They have a very distinct sound, they're versatile and have AMAZING tone that you're not going to find with anything else.... what kind of stuff do you play and what are you looking for sound wise? I own an ad140 in case you're wondering.

You are joking right? Beringher make some of the worst guitar amps around. Transistorised with such false tone, they sound horrible.

Orange amps are fantastic. If you're after a classic/hard rockish sound (The Datsuns, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club) they are spot on. They've got beautiful clean.

They're in the botique end of the market along with Mesa Boogies, the only Marshall you can compare to an Orange is the JCM Series or an old school late 60's/early 70's.

So go for it, though if you have the money I suggest a Rectofier of some sorts by Mesa Boogie.

check out Zinky too. those are some of the best guitar amps made. but also rediculously expensive. if you have this kind of money, it's a wise investment, you'll never need to buy another one.

just to back up what the guy above me said, stay away from beringher, they SUCK...a lot.

Zinky /drools.

Yes, if you have ridiculos amounts of money a Zinky or Soldano would be best. Lost Prophets use Soldano's and get the worlds most pure clean.

Or you could just do something totally sweet and get a mesa boogie dual recitifier

I felt that way about my Zoom 505II. Then you go and play on something Valve and expensive and you realise just how 'fake' your tone sounds. The differences between transistorised amps (like yours) and valve amps are subtle but in time as you develop as a player you realise how much more apperent the differences are.

Orange Amps are fucking amazing.

I'd reccomend anything by Hughes and Kettner, they're high quality and not too expensive.

orange makes nice amps but they seem to lack power. if youve already got a nice marshall id either stick with that or buy a new one. ive never found an amp better than marshall, espeically for heavy music.

It all depends on what you're looking for.... the higher wattage oranges don't lack power at all. It's basically a preference thing...but in my honest opinion nothing compares to orange tone wise.

Mesa's are higher gain amps than orange and if you play heavier music you might like it more, once again it's a matter of preference and they are 2 completely different things ... the thing that I don't like about mesa is that it takes a lot of messing around to get a good sound, where as the orange is a really straight forward amp, you can basically plug in and play and it will sound awesome.

I love me marshall, because the tone is always exactly what I expect when I dial it in and It is always awesome.

I was googling and came across this thread, and eventhough it's 2 years old, thought I'd bump it. Has anybody played through the fairly new Orange Tiny Terror? It's about the size of a lunchbox; all tube (I think EL 84s), 7 or 15 watts. This thing is LOUD and produced some of the best tones I've ever heard. It can definitely push a 4x12, eventhough it'd look silly on stage :-P
