Fan-fucking-tastic film. The video game, not so much.

It's not bad, I'd just rather watch The Deer Hunter, Apocalypse Now or FMJ ahead of it if I were in the mood for a 'nam movie.

I have yet to see The Deer Hunter but I completely agree with you on the other three. This just happened to be on. I can appreciate a good Vietnam movie when its on. Generally speaking, directors usually make good with them.

The scene in the village is great though.

I never realized just how many great actors are in this film. Its funny how young they all look.

I'd agree with The Deerhunter and Apocalypse Now, but once FMJ gets away from the basic training I find it a bit dull. Have any of you seen "Bullet In The Head"? Its John Woo's movie set during the Vietnam war. Not a 'Nam movie in the Platoon sense, but still very good if fairly depressing as the title might suggest.

I don't understand how people say that. I feel the second half of FMJ is far superior. You really get into the head of the soldier. It is by far my favorite film. Everything about it is just so powerful. The scene with the girl at the end always brins me to tears. The musical sequence after brings up my spirits though.

It's been some time since I've seen it all the way through. I guess I'll give it another go.
