I do not agree with these balloting results.
1B
1. Martinez, T. Yankees 738,865
2. Teixeira, M. Rangers 694,157
3. Millar, K. Red Sox 525,004
4. Konerko, P. White Sox 496,784
5. Sexson, R. Mariners 311,645
Tino doesn't deserve it all. Millar? I think Konerko Sexon and Morneau deserve it more than he does, no offense Boston fans.
2B
1. Roberts, B. Orioles 1,159,241
2. Soriano, A. Rangers 1,037,627
3. Bellhorn, M. Red Sox 432,985
4. Womack, T. Yankees 318,516
5. Iguchi, T. White Sox 213,302
I would agree with this perfectly if Bellhorn and Womack were not on the list. Come on Womack is playing horrible and plays Left Field now with Cano there. and Bellhorn? what has he done this year. its not the post-season anymore. again sorry Red-Sox fans. But arguably, besides Roberts, Soriano, and Iguchi there are pretty much nothing special there...
SS
1. Tejada, M. Orioles 1,356,842
2. Jeter, D. Yankees 911,275
3. Renteria, E. Red Sox 617,893
4. Guillen, C. Tigers 236,028
5. Young, M. Rangers 206,243
This is pretty agreeable. All 5 of them are all-star caliber except Renteria wasn't too hot in the beginning and Guillen is on the DL. But I think Crosby or Lugo should replace Guillen.
3B
1. Rodriguez, A. Yankees 1,524,514
2. Mueller, B. Red Sox 502,770
3. Mora, M. Orioles 425,962
4. Blalock, H. Rangers 305,811
5. Beltre, A. Mariners 286,465
A-Rod, we'll of course he'll get it. Come on Mueller? please? sorry Sox fans. But Mora and Blalock deserve it well over him to be a reserve...and Beltre doesn't deserve to be on here either. I like the Mariners a bit too but I don't think Adrian deserves to be on the list. Inge, Figgins, and Chavez could all compete for the spots on the list.
C
1. Varitek, J. Red Sox 1,161,022
2. Rodriguez, I. Tigers 800,540
3. Posada, J. Yankees 527,741
4. Lopez, J. Orioles 361,687
5. Pierzynski, A.J. White Sox 229,271
Ok Varitek I can live with this one. he is hitting amazingly great right now and deserves it. Pudge, I don't think he has seriously done any shit this year. Posada I could live with him being a reserve. Javy no, he couldn't even play by the way with his broken hand so its pointless to vote for him. Pierzynski? how is he on here? Zaun, Martinez, MAUER!!!, Molina, and Kendall could all take the last 3 spots on the list.
DH
1. Ortiz, D. Red Sox 1,749,956
2. Palmeiro, R. Orioles 441,449
3. Giambi, J. Yankees 363,978
4. Young, D. Tigers 274,214
5. Thomas, F. White Sox 229,639
Ortiz agrred, Raffy, agreed. Giami fuck no, he doesn't even deserve to start for the yankees let alone be apart of the all-star team. Young and the Big Hurt is agreeable. But Dellucci is having one of the best years of his career. Hafner and Hillenbrand are even hitting goood. and Lew Ford and Raul Ibanez are having good years for themselves.
OF
1. Ramirez, M. Red Sox 1,261,827
2. Suzuki, I. Mariners 1,219,510
3. Guerrero, V. Angels 1,198,198
4. Damon, J. Red Sox 1,116,371
5. Sheffield, G. Yankees 852,817
6. Matsui, H. Yankees 624,134
7. Hunter, T. Twins 535,051
8. Sosa, S. Orioles 485,084
9. Nixon, T. Red Sox 482,641
10. Podsednik, S. White Sox 373,314
11. Williams, B. Yankees 347,547
12. Anderson, G. Angels 342,267
13. Finley, S. Angels 241,882
14. Hidalgo, R. Rangers 179,950
15. Dye, J. White Sox 173,993
Manny number 1? haha I laugh. he should be a number 3 at max. I mean he's doing great but the number one is very iffy. Ichiro at number 2. sure he'll make the team because he's a favorite but he's not off to one of his best careers. Vladdy. I say a number 4. he was hurt for about 2-3 weeks. but he does carry the Angels. Damon at 4 is just fine for me. Sheffield and Matsui is allright but I don't agree. Hunter number 7 yeah, he'll not only make awesome plays but he showed he can hit. Sosa at 8, no he don't deserve to be in the 18. Nixon above Garret Anderson? Am I seeing things. sure Nixon is hitting well but arguably GA is the most underrated player in the American League. Podsednik at 10 is allright but all he does is steal steal steal. Bernie Williams has done jackshit this year. Finley? he's hitting pretty bad but he hits when it matters so whatever I guess. Hidalgo should be a bit higher, he is one of the underated Ranger offensive guys. and Jermaine Dye is just complete BS. Aaron Rowand deserves way more than Dye. Kevin Mench and Shannon Stewart should have spots on this list! if the voting is like that Jacque Jones deserves to be up there too. even Carl Crawford and Vernon Well deserve a late spot. Coco Crisp an Mark Kotsay are off to great years but nobody notices the little guys.
So with all this said. it's seems that voting goes like vote for the players that you heard of/or of your home team. and ignore their stats and don't vote for people who deserve this. post your thoughts on the voting because I'm not to satisfied by the results. hopefully by the All-Star game, these fans will come to their senses and vote for the correct people.

Alright, I think we can all say that we don't agree with who gets in every position every year. But this is what the fans vote for, because this game is FOR THE FANS. Yea, Things would be different if I picked them, or if you picked them, but we have to put up with ALL fans that vote, especially the uneducated ones who go to a home game and vote for every player on their home team. Until things change in the voting process, there's no use in complaining, because it's not the intelligent fans like you who vote undeserving players in positions, it's the morons who vote.

I agree with you on a lot of the Red Sox players. I think people just see them as something great because they won the world series. Millar shouldn't be near the top 5. Bellhorn is one of the worst 2b in the league. Edgar...well....no comment on this bum. Mueller, although a solid 3b, is not an All-star. Nixon maybe, but there are many more that should be there. Damon I could see. He is hitting good and is leading all CF in OBP and OPS. Manny...he is leading in HR and RBI's, but there could be a case against him. I think he makes it, but doesnt start. Ortiz....he deserves it. Varitek...ya he is hitting good.
Kinda scary what espn was showing. 7 of the 9 possible positions open (no P) would come from the East Division. 5 of the 7 would come from either the sox or the yanks....

I have a baseball question. How do you get 4 strikeouts in one inning?
http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/history/rare_feats/index.jsp?feature=four_strikeouts_i nning
NetNerdsRevenge

If you throw strike 3, but the catcher drops it or the batter swings at a wild pitch and it gets by the catcher the batter can run to first as long as its not occupied. It then becomes basically a groundball. If he can get to first before the catcher throws there (which usually the catcher gets him out at first) then the batter is safe on first, but the pitcher gets credit for a strike out.
So he would have to strike out the side plus 1
mat1419
06/21/05, 11:26 AM
or if the ump were to miscount the outs in an inning and allow 4 batters to go up, the stats would later get changed to show all the pitchers strike outs, it happened to us in high school
all i know is bobby abreu better get voted starter for the NL, he's in third right now and is a legitimate mvp candidate if the phillies make a playoff push

brian roberts is having possibly the best year out of anyone else in his position. not one baseball expert of analyst saw him coming. last seaon he was .273 ba, 4hr, 29 sb. this season .355 ba, 11 hr, 15 sb.
C - Varitek or Pudge
1B - gotta be Teixera
2b - gotta be Roberts
3B - gotta be Arod
SS - gotta be Tejada
OF - Manny, Sheff, Vlad
The NL is alot closer than the AL positions

Yeah....that's why you always see the catcher tagging the batter after he strikes out.... a lot of the time they don't bother running. So technically, there is no limit to how many strikeouts you can get in an inning.

I have to agree I laugh at these.
1st base. Teixeira deserves it. Tino was hot for a week or so.
2nd base. Roberts deserves it. Soriano as reserve isn't bad either.
3rd base. I think Mora deserves it more then A-Rod.
Short Stop. I don't agree that Crosby should be a replacement he's been on the DL. Lugo would fit better.
Outfield. I think Hunter deserves a starting position just for his defense. He is also hitting well. Also think Vlad is right where he should be. Manny shouldn't be starting. I do agree with Ichiro starting since he can just flat out hit. You are right Crawford deserves a spot. Him or Lugo will represent the D-rays by default.
DH. Ortiz. easy.
Catcher. I can't believe you considered Joe Mauer. Now that is laughable. He doesn't play everyday and hasn't hit well. Pudge deserves this one..

i also like that you're criticizing players who are 3rd or 4th in the voting. they won't make the team. it doesn't really matter. only the #1 for most positions and the top 3 for OFs get starting spots and most of the others won't even get reserve spots.
(trust me, millar isn't going to get a reserve spot, francona will give it to someone who deserves it.)

I don't know about Roberts, he will make it, but I would probably vote Soriano at 2b. He's been consistant all year. It seemed like Roberts got out of the gate really quick, hitting bombs and stealing bags, but lately he's seemed to "cool off"(in quotes because his avg has "dropped" to .355 which is still amazing. He's not hitting hr's much anymore)
I would vote Soriano with Roberts as backup, but honestly I'm just nit picking and stating my opinion because both are going to make the team easy.

That does not make a bit of sense to me. Whether he excelled early or finished strong, its still the cumulative performance from the first half of the season.
And Roberts at .355 BA, 1.024 OPS 11HR, 39 RBI, 15 SB
Soriano at .294 BA, .907 OPS, 19HR, 46 RBI, 8SB
Without a doubt its Roberts, he is first in the AL in BA, OBP, 3rd in Slugging, 2nd in OPS, its a no brainer in my opinion.
