I would compare Rosemarie DeWitt's performance and what she had to do to what Tom Cruise had to do with Dustin Hoffman in Rain Man. IMO it's a lot harder to act opposite the loud, showy performance than to do that showy performance.

Tom Cruise > Dustin Hoffman - Rain Man
Rosemarie DeWitt > Anne Hathaway - Rachel Getting Married

I voted Taraji P. Henson in Benjamin Button, but Viola Davis was so gripping in Doubt that either are deserving.
