No Control. Or anything they released between 1988 and 1994 for that matter.

Old stuff: Suffer, No Control. Avoid Against the Grain. It has some solid tracks but as an album its not that memorable.
New stuff: The Empire Strikes First, The Process of Belief, Stranger than Fiction. Not New America. Fucking terrible.

Get these albums to start off:
No Control
Recipe For Hate
Suffer
Generator
Stranger Than Fiction
The Empire Strikes First
I'm kind of biased towards RFH & Generator but they're both fucking great albums. No Control is probably you're best starting point though.
They also have a comp. album called, All Ages. There's a lot of good stuff on that.

You should start with Stranger Than Fiction, imo...

That was my rec, a way to kind of get a crash course in older Bad Religion.

If you like what you hear, listen to Stranger Than Fiction next. That's probably my favorite BR album.
