Good on the Foo Fighters for a pretty solid debut. I'm curious as to what the new Finch record sold this week too.

if i were jason tate and wanted a higher post count, i would make up users and post this in every thread. it must be a conspiracy to get more posts and views and charge more per ad. that is the only conclusion i can come to, at least.

you fuckers need to go out and buy the damn FOB album if you love it so much.

The fucking album has sold over 200,000 copies already. I think they're doing alright so far.

As I Lay Dying debuted at 35. Seriously, WTF???

MxPx did another 7317, they're up to 22K now.
MCS did another 7689, they're up to just under 24K now.

And for this dude...

I wonder how many times American Idiot has gone platinum. I'd say at least 4.

It's just under 3.7 million.

MxPx did another 7317, they're up to 22K now.
MCS did another 7689, they're up to just under 24K now.

Dude ok, i do understand someone can atleast say why they dislike a certain album instead of just saying "it sucks" but obviously you cant be completely positive on everything musically, people have their dislikes and interests, just is the same with the cd reviewing, why bs and say you think something is awesome if you dislike it?

I finally got to buy the MCS cd this week even though I've had it as long as everyone else...I also bought TREOS which is worth all the hype it has gotten here....sucks Coldplay had just come out or else the Foo would have gotten number one...but the Coldplay cd is great so it deserves it too

Oh, and Dookie owns American Idiot

i wonder if 'a rush of blood...' had good sales this week like last week....holy shit that was crazy, selling 35,000 of that album last week, let alone the 737,000+ copies of x&y. I happened to be one of those people who bought both albums last week, even though I had rush of blood burned since it came out.

Soundscan. You have to subscribe, and it costs a lot.

Actually, pretty sure that he gets them from hitsdailydouble.com, as I've seen the numbers here and there match up perfectly, but both are usually slightly off from the numbers directly from soundscan. This also explains why the only albums listed are the ones from the building sales chart. Soundscan has access to every cd ever, so I'm sure bands like MCS, MxPx, etc would be mentioned if he had access to those numbers.

Also, 33,000+ for As I Lay Dying...that is fucking incredible.

Coldplay is crazy huge..and they deserve it..but besides being all over tv and on soundtracks and stuff..i haven't really herd anybody talking about it..its prob just the people i hang out with..i did hear someone mention it once..i work as a server a this local pasta place..and this guy came in for a to go..and he said he daughter was out in the car cranking the new coldplay (not sure why he said that)..but it was cool..i was like oh yea i got that cd..its awesome..i thought it was cool this dad liked it and stuff.and he said he was gona try and go the concert down in orlando..i thought that was pretty cool..and i am suprised green day is selling so much..i love green day..they were my first fav..i remember seeing them back in like 94..and i was only 9..my dad didn't like it to much cus he didn't know what it was like..and billy was all telling one side of the crowd to yell Fuc* and the other to yell you..haha..my first experience..and it was great..dookie will always go down as my great first love..but this new cd i haven't really listened to much...it is good..but i liked the older stuff better..i think they should re-release the older ones..dookie and insomniac and nimrod again..i bet they could get some good sales of this new fan base..(maybe they still do sell dookie..i am not sure)..anywho..good on everyone for doing well..

_kevin

P.S. oh and the killers sold 46,725 last week..thats pretty crazy ..that cd has been out awhile as well

I'm surprised foo fighters didn't debut at #1.

There seemed to be a bit of a backlash over the fact that it had DRM technology on it. Looking at how close it was, it may very well have been the difference between a #1 debut and a #2 debut.

green day is getting boring. they have more of that mainstream punk sound now, i mean listen to "boulevard of broken dreams", it sounds like a song right out of a nickleback CD. And i'm not bagging on GD, i mean "Dookie" is legendary. but "American Idiot" doesnt do green day just. plus the whole political rock thing gets annoying after the millionth song about it, whether you love or hate the government.

MXPX sold another 7,093 making that a grand total of 22,457.
No Use For A Name sold 2,814...pretty sad...

Here is a good one for ya...
The 2005 Warped compilation, which sucks as we all know, sold 23,091 copies this weeking with a grand total of 76,279 copies! I think that is because of its price...

that truly is sad....it sucks that there on a label like fat which really doesn't push any of their bands....this is the ablum that could really break NUFAN into the mainstream, something they deserve, if they had just a bit of financial help/air play.

the hell? AILD isn't "pop-punk" of metalcore...they're harder than a ton of other metalcore bands...I'd say the pop-punk of metal-core is Atreyu.

the pop-punk of metal-core is Atreyu.

a) i'll give you that. atreyu is so god-awful though.
b) but dude, as i lay dying is in the same catchy metalcore genre

other formulaic "pop-punk" metalcore bands:

it dies today
still remains
unearth

i'm not saying i don't like these bands. all i'm saying is that they produce extremely catchy music that doesn't always add up to a great album as a whole. can you honestly take unearth seriously when the dude yells BREAKDOWN right before a (take a guess) breakdown? It's catchy shit, but if I want to listen to an album i'll listen to fordirelifesake, btbam or scarlet

postscript:

here's a fun little comparison. listen to the intros of still remains - the worst is yet to come and then listen to as i lay dying - undefined. hmmm sounds a little similar.
