Driving In Silence (http://www.drivinginsilence.com) are hard at work writing their debut full-length. The band is still searching for the right label to call home and has even turned down a deal from Island Records.

Hahahahahahahahahaha! I know! How dare them have intergrity and not agree with some of the things that label told them they wanted them to do, the direction they prefered them to go in, etc! Why not change their values and go for the BIG BUCKS?!?!??!?!

Oh yeah, then people (just like you), would label them sell outs. These guys are some of the most humble, down to earth and respectable people out there; I commend them.

I always thought that Island was supposed to be one of the better major labels regarding creative control..(e.g. Thursday, Thrice, etc,)

island wouldve been a great label tho, with fob and thrice and thursday, etc. shows that they are in it for the music and not the money if they turned them down however.

They prolly had a good reason for turning them down. I can't wait for this album. Possibly album of the year I think. If it's anything like "Kill Your Husband" or "My Mistake" I think it will please us all.

Well, my face is red. I apologize. Anyway, that kid isn't in the band; he's just a huge fan / good friend.

I'm not in the band genius.

Believe me, if I were in a band this good, I wouldn't spend all day on AP.net

It's more on the good friend side. I mean yes I still love the music but yeah. Jared, you should come party with all of us sometime after one of their shows.

Damn right they are. That's why I like them so much. Three greatest guys ever.

Major labels aren't for everyone. Island probably didn't question Thursday, Thrice, or Fall Out Boy's formula when they were initially signed, but that's probably because the record sales were already there and the Island staff knew that the formula worked. Driving in Silence is great. This record will probably be one of my favorites once it drops. And I bet they'll get some significant attention from it and that same guy from Island may come back and say "We want to sign you guys. Don't change a thing."

Ah ... in a perfect world, right?

It doesn't matter who they sign with, they won't change a thing. They probably wouldn't sign with anyone under any conditions that restrict their artistic control.

i saw this band at the charm city art space in front of like 4 people a year or two back. i dont remember what they sounded like at all. all i remember is not being especially impressed, and wanting to walk around the corner to club charles and get drunk.

which i probably did.

Haha, rumor has it War All The Time sounds the way it sounds because Island stepped in. Hence why the band are goign with a more mainstream influenced producer for their next release...

Island has some kickass bands for a major label though, can't deny that.

DIS made the choice they felt was right for them, and people should have all sorts of respect for a band with their integerity not to bend for the money, much love to the boys of bmore

War All The Time sounds awesome, it wasnt such a departure from Full Collapse except that it had more depth and maturity to it. I dont understand what Island could have changed.

It wasn't the record the band wanted and they were bashing it from the day it was released. I personally though that album was a MASSIVE step down from Full Collapse and it let me down more than any album I could remember.

Me too. I think I've only managed to listen to War All The Time all the way through maybe twice. Full Collapse is absolutely incredible and never gets old.

I remember saying Geoff say it wasn't as hook influenced, but I never heard that he hated it.

But I love that record. My favorite thing the band has done to date (besides "Jet Black New Year" of course). I can't wait for the next record. And Island (if I had to choose) is my fave major label by a long shot.

I remember hanging out with these guys after shows with Jared. These guys are awesomely cool and their music is very good. Its no shock that they got attention from Island, and I hold them in high regard for turning them down and not changing their standards. I know for sure that their album will be one of the most anticipated ones around the Baltimore - Washington DC area. Since I have moved to Atlanta, I know I have been getting people to listen to them. I know that whatever label they decide, it will be the right one for them.
