The new album is sick. Every track owns in its own way, and it really comes together well. The production team did a great job, and the girl from VersaEmerge makes an awesome guest appearance in "If it Means Alot to You"

There are a few decent or good tracks, but the rest of the album is just boring and pretty bad.
From the little I've heard from the new album I personally think they've made a step up from their last stuff.
Favorite song - If It Means A Lot To You. Hands down, Sierra and Jeremy sound incredible.
Also, does no one else think Jeremy looks really, REALLY weird?

I like that they put that kind of stuff before breakdowns. Makes me feel like killing everyone in sight. A Day To Remember writes much better songs than Four Year Strong's more generic stuff. Four Year Strong isn't too bad, though.

Listen to the breakdown in Mr Highway's Thinking About The End.
Then listen to the breakdown in Thirteen by Recon. Not smart by them since alot of their fanbase probably listens to that crap.
Anyway, liked this band in Grade 9. It is music made for 14 year olds. That's all.

Well probably because it was right. I'm probably the least critical person of music ever. Literally every song sounds the same. That's fine. I'm not going to deny I listened to Homesick while I was at the gym. Now artistically this album is shit. It has good entertainment value if you are a bro (like me) and get your swell on at the gym everyday, or if you play any physical sport and are looking for a sw33t pump up song. The only part on this album I thought was pretty clever and I don't even think most people understand why it's said is the line "Disrespect your surroundings."

yup. imho, they need to Commit to either being a pop-punk or a metalcore band. between the last two albums, i think they've exhausted every way it is physically possible to play a one chord breakdown.

"A Second Glance" is a very good pop-punk song. Then near the end, things go to hell with it once the growling kicks in.
They're a cliche metalcore band with repetitive breakdowns and catchy choruses. That being said, I take them for what they are and I enjoyed Homesick. They play generic metalcore a lot better than those stupid bands with electronic effects and synthesizers. It's their singing hooks that sell them for me, but they wouldn't be the same without the "crappy" breakdowns. They'd be like every other pop-punk band ever. They're unlike many metalcore bands out there because of their pop-punk hooks, and they're unlike many pop-punk bands out there for sole reason that they play those space eating breakdowns.
I have to say, I was a little dissapointed with Homesick. Some of the lyrics are piss poor and there's a few filler tracks on there ... and in all honesty it really is pretty generic, but I do really like some of the songs nonetheless, and also, whatever anyone else says, they can certainly write a decent room smashing breakdown ...

No.
I admit, that was a little too bold. I was on a Homesick binge when I typed that, I wasn't in the right frame of mind. Though For Those Who Have Heart is the better album, I think a couple of songs on Homesick are their best work to date.

Homesick is better, IMO.
Having listened to Homesick a fair bit since it came out I'm suddenly struck with this weird feeling of embarrassment that I listen to it ... I don't even know why. My music tastes are usually shameless (did somebody say Ricky Martin?)

I understand why you think that, however, they aren't as generic as everyone thinks. The breakdowns may be, but almost all breakdowns sound alike, it's just a matter of how you put them into songs. Adtr is one of very very few bands who mix 2 very different genres, pop punk and metalcore. That's why they are so popular is because they make songs for everyone to enjoy, or atleast they did more-so with FTWHH and Homesick. Just like their hoodie they used to have said "heaviest pop-punk band ever". That doesn't sound very 'fucking original' to me.

A. If that was really an award, i'd be honored to have the title of it
B. How do I contradict myself?
C. The point i'm trying to get across IS; every band is original in some way. However, mostly everyone can agree that adtr is some sort of bridge getting people in to metalcore (or, 'brocore' for the ignorant people on this forum). I have friends who like adtr for their poppier songs, yet find themselves really liking songs like Heartless and You Already Know What You Are. THAT is what i'm trying to say, more people seem to like adtr for their mix of 2 different genres then bands who try but fail. Four Year Strong and adtr aren't very alike, either.

I beg to differ.
However, they are both great albums..
At first I thought For Those.. was better then Homesick, but I find myself listening to Homesick more then I ever listened to For Those...

I listened to Homesick a lot when it first came out, but after a while I just got tired of it.

They would never ever play You Had Me At Hello or If It Means A Lot To You live.
That's why it's a DREAM setlist... lol

No way, I still listen to FTWHH because its generally better and more catchy. I listened to Homesick, but after awhile it just got bland.
I dont listen to this band very much anymore period, but when I do, its For Those Who Have Heart.

But it's not even worth dreaming bc they're the most unrealistic live songs!

Personally, I think Homesick is far better than FTWHH. It's far more memmorable and it doesn't drag in places whereas FTWHH does.

FTWHH have some REALLY poorly written parts and transitions.
they definitely cleaned up some things on Homesick, which makes it a better album imo.
