I know a bunch of people on here smoke pot or do other drugs. .
As most of you know I don't do any of that stuff, but thats besides the point ..
I was talking to my friend a while, a few months ago, when we first met and she was like
"Smoking is absolutely disgusting, I would never do any drugs, i'd never smoke pot"
or whatever. . And then today she's like " I want to try pot "
And i said it's funny how people at first say they wont do it, then they say they'd try it once, then they become either stoners or start trying other things. And she said
"no I'd never do that, I have priorities, i want to go to college"
Now, I've heard this so many times, i mean she sounds so naive that i can barely stand it..
And then she says that she's not like other people. and she knows people have said what she's saying but she's different and she's not stupid etc.. .
How many times have you heard someone say something like that and end up smoking pot all the time or trying other things too?
This is kinda pointless I'm just wondering how many of you have seen this as well

Stupid people do stupid things, smart people outsmart eachother.
So true.
I've actually said I don't wanna try pot, but I'm starting to think that trying it wouldn't be so bad. I mean, I have this stoner friend who is a complete pot head, and he's really cool and a funny friend. That was random, but still.
I've always stood by that I won't drink though. I don't mind drinking the odd beer, but I won't do it to purposely get drunk
Stupid people do stupid things, smart people outsmart eachother.
Indeed.

Yea, but those people to me, are the biggest fucking hypocrites ever. If i ever went out and got wasted, or did drugs my friends would all hate me. Not just cause i drank but because it's against everything i say , i would be a total hypocrite, and hypocrites.. they suck.

I totally agree with you...one hundred percent. I recently went through this as well with my ex. All the time she would tell me "I hate people who drink and smoke" and now suddenly she's like "I wouldn't care dating a guy who drinks and smokes"...honestly how disgusting is that. I can't stand when people change so much on such big ideals. I think I'm one of the few who can actually not give a damn about trying anything or compromising to societies pressures.

I can't count the # of people who "grew up" and dropped out of high school, or went to jail or in some other way fucked themselves up. What i'm saying is, they start by saying they dont want to do anyting. Then oh i'll try weed. Then oh i'll try ____ (whatever) and it goes on. I'm not saying it always happens. Don't say that as if it's a fact. One of my friends was really religious, and she had never tried alcohol or drugs.. or anything like that at all. She was your typical goodie-goodie teenager.. and well, her friends got her to try pot and alcohol. At first it was just a little bit and she'd ALWAYS tell me, "I'm a teenager.. I have to have fun. I promise that's all it is though. It's not like I'll abuse it or anything. You know someone like me would never do that." Well guess what? She has fucked up her life more than you can imagine. Her family kicked her out of her house a thousand times because they'd give her chances and she'd NEVER change. She'd go back to the drugs and alcohol and partying (and having sex too) so obviously her family wasn't going to put up with that. She's slept on so many of her friends's couches.. in their basements.. because no one would accept her. She went to some Youth institution.. but of course, she couldn't handle all the rules. Now she's dropped out of school (just before graduating..), ended up in a different city with some relatives who she hates and she's basically their servant. And the thing she wants the most right now? It's to go back home and be the way she used to be because she doesn't like who she became, she didn't like being labelled "crazy".. even though she loved it at first.
True story. I'll even give you the link on her LJ if you don't believe me.
But yes, how did it all start? Just by wanting to have a little bit of fun.... right? Honestly, I'm not saying that everyone should stop drinking and doing drugs. You want to do it? Go ahead and do it, but don't tell me that teenagers know how to control themselves and that they won't get addicted. Time has proven that they don't actually know, and that they have no limits. Yes I know there's people who have "limits", but come on.. compare it to the # of teenagers who abuse alcohol/drugs?

just cause we're "kids" by age doesn't mean we have to act immature. Again, if you choose to just go out and get stoned to forget about your "problems" living the goodlife in white suburbia...that's fine, you're a retard...but if you're so against it all your life...why change it? Just because we can learn about new experiences doesn't me we have to. It is your own choice but don't act like you're all against it and then pull a 360. You completely fuck over those around you who care at all. It's selfishness and it's harmful, there's no way you, or anyone, can deny that.

I used to smoke alot of pot my freshman year, I mean, I was a pretty big stoner, but I quit. It wasnt because I thought my life was getting out of control or anything, but I just got tired of spending all that money on it, and stuff like that.
I dont necessarily think that it was a good experience, but it wasnt terrible either. I got to experiment in a consequence free environment and now, I think I have a better understanding of the drug because of it.
Some of my friends now are pot heads, and in truth it kind of bothers me, because they didnt realize how lame it was, like I did. Dont get me wrong, pot can be fun, but when you base your life around it,, its fucked up.

right and that's fine and all that you tried it, it was your own mature, conscious decision...it's not like you spent 18 years preaching against alcohol. I personally think drinking is harmful to your system...especially binge drinking...that's why I don't do it. Now see how I'm telling you this...wouldn't you wanna kick the shit outta me if I went and got totally wasted tomorrow night? It's these hypocritical mindsets within our youth that piss me off the most...and the decision to drink, or smoke, or do drugs...is a major major decision. All drugs have an addictive side-effect which could lead to greater damage. Some people want to take that risk, I don't.

*cannot drink consecutive nights in a row
*cannot drink at parties
*can only drink with friends or alone, no strangers
*don't drink when sad or pissed off
*only drink with water or having food
*can only have more than one drink on nights when I do not have class the next day
And as a personal taste preference, I only drink wine

Here's my honest opinion...if you are responsible enough to make sure you don't do anything stupid while high/drunk...and remove yourself from all possible extremely dangerous situations (i.e. driving a car, or jumping off a building, or something just dumb) then go for it....its your life and you only live once so do what you please...
My parents have always been fairly open in telling me that if I wanted to do something then I should come to them first....granted I have done some things they don't know about, but they have been totally cool wiht giving me some freedom here and there, but they've been pretty cool in not being strict and on occasions allowing me to try or have some alcohol so it kind of eliminates the curiosity factor...and my parents have always been "Don't ask don't tell"
But honestly....do what you think you should do...I don't want to force my views on anyone or influence anyone...just do what you please and enjoy I guess

This has recently happened to me as well.
I have a group of six best friends and last year only one was into smoking pot (she was always a little messed up-in 6th grade she brought a canister full of beer to school) and now all but myself and my one other friend, have done it, do do it, and are slowly becoming addicted.
It really does make me angry because i am slowly losing my friends, who all have promised me at one point-they would never do it, they'd stop doing it, they wouldn't do it that often ( lies! ). I don't like putting myself in situations where i am going to be uncomfortable and i honestly just really cant stand people when they're high.
So instead of going over their house where i know they are all going to be smoking, i sit at home and go on AP. hahaaaa :rcain:

And yes, it does feel good to vent.
Yea i lost like 5 friends over last summer they all started drinking, which i was like " Oh i'll hang out with them when they dont drink" but they get completely trashed WHENEVER they have a chance. And they all smoke ridiculous amounts of pot as well..

What I think is you can't hate people for what they do, you must like them for what they are. And if them smoking pot really influences your relationship, then so be it, find another friend. But, as I see it, people can smoke pot on their own times, or drink alcohol or whatever, as long as they don't make me do it, and don't put me into a bad situation, what they do to themselves is their business. It's really hard to change a person that isn't yourself. No mater how many times you tell someone no, or try to dissuade them, if they want to do it, they're going to do it, no matter what you say. If this doesn't really make sense, sorry.

It's a decently sized town in New york. It's like not really country but not really city, pretty much a mix.. We have like 2 malls really close and bunch that are a little farther. like 3 movie theaters .. a shit load of fast food/normal resturaunts. wal mart sams club you know, it's pretty normal. But almost everyone here either drinks and/or does drugs. and SO MANY people smoke cigarettes. like 8th graders and 7th graders do drugs and shit now its terrible.

It's so true. I live in probably one of the nicest areas of New Jersey: lots of families, big houses, cute little towns, etc, etc; and i would say 90% of my school does/has done drugs and the people you think are least likely to do it (i.e. Mr. all american boy football captain) are the biggest potheads/dealers out there.
I swear everyday i find out someone new that i would never expect, and i keep getting more and more dissapointed.
I too think you're cute. let's hook up ;)
My house or yours? ;)
I'm actually suprised a lot of you have the same views...for some reason i thought everyone would be all "POT RULES!".

ya that reminds me of my town...maybe a little smaller since we don't have a walmart here. It really comes as no surprise though...it's where you least expect it where all this shit goes down. American Beauty indeed.

Far out it's just pot... it's a plant, it grows in the ground, all natural. People have been smoking it forever, heard of the peace pipe? How long do you think the indians were around before you? I smoke pot about once a year so it's not like I'm a stoner defending it. I used to smoke a bit when I was around 15/16 but then I just quit and didn't do it for ages. A bit of weed is fine in moderation, as long as you can honestly say it doesn't affect your life negatively who cares. It's those designer drugs and all those pills people pop you gotta worry about, that shit will fuck you up big time. I don't think its hypocritical to go "I'm never gonna do it and then change your mind", its just that opinions change. When your 5 you say "girls are gross, they have germs yuk" and oh my god people get married, holy shit how hypocritical is that? By the way I know plenty of people who have tried it once and thats it, they never did it again. All my friends and I turned out fine, jobs, uni whatever, everyones doing something with their lives. If you never wanna try it, thats fine but dont worry so much about other people doing it.
And on the subject of drinking... going to a pub with friends and getting drunk is awesome! Alcohol is good... I'll back booze up all the way. The weekend comes and you've earned a drink or five. Its not gonna hurt you (livers are evil, and they must be punished), so let the beer flow. I guess chicks should watch out with all the deviots out there though....
Sorry for the ramble!
