is good.
And better than Lydia.
So listen.

Agreed.
Obliterates Lydia.
Listen here (http://www.myspace.com/librarytapes).

I think I'll preface all new recs with that statement. Better than Lydia.

IWasaCamera

Isn't saying much though. Better off claiming it's better than Fleet Foxes.

funkel

Well if I'm on AP, it should work. And if I'm anywhere else, Fleet Foxes should work too.
TSB didn't give Library Tapes any love. Shame.

Better than Lydia holds no dice with me, but I'll check it out anyway.

Only reason I say that is the crazy hype they're getting all the AP Staff EOTY lists.

Eh, wasn't too keen on their top 10 either.

It's not just the staff ones, either.

I know. Ridiculous. Boring "indie."

I have much love for TSJ5, This Is Your Captain Speaking, and Neil On Impression. Bohren is good, but not that good. While I like The Drift, I think they're overrated and are labelled too much as "jazzy" when they don't actually offer all that much jazz to their mix. Earth's good but again not that good. I have to check out Johan, but it sounds like my kinda thing.
So, pretty nice overall imo. Best EOTY list I've seen so far.
Very surprised to not see Hauschka though on their list. Their review was highly complimentary of it.

Johan is strongest of the lot. No idea why Hauschka isn't there if they enjoyed it unless the review appeared too late in the year.

Yeah.

That and the fact that I just can't get into any band with a lot of female vocals. Stupid, I know.

Review did appear very late in the year, but Neil On Impression review went up like 2 weeks ago and was only an 8 (This Is Your Captain Speaking and UpCDownC both got 9's, but placed lower), yet it's #3.
I guess the staff's loving of Hauschka was that one review and not much else. Shame.

Are you a Johan fan, Vinh?

Also, an Abbasi Brothers song made the top 30 tracks of the year for TSB. Thought you'd like that.

New Earth is quite good. Never been much on the drone sound but it's probably the most eventful of their releases.

funkel

New Earth album almost feels poppy for a drone record. Just like Fuck Buttons was poppy for noise.
If that makes sense.

Aside from Viroulegu Forsetar, Johannsson's full-lengths have all been quality.

Haven't seen that top tracks list but yes, definitely glad to hear Abbasi cut it.

They also have posted the first half of their Essential Electronica feature. Not so much into that stuff personally but I plan on looking at it more closely later on.

No it makes sense. Your description reminds me of Detektivbrian's new album. You should check it out if you haven't, kind of like carnival music or something.

I'll add it to my list, ha.
You've heard of Hauschka, right?

Yeah, glanced at that earlier. Happy to see Philip Jeck and Fjordne on there.

Of course, I complimented you on your avatar a few days ago! haha. I am a fan of Ferndorf.

The new album leaked. They're still leagues below MVP's entrance theme, though.

I've my name in the thank you list of this album.

The 32 minutes track that comes in the limited edition is also very good.

What is this?

Anyway, I really love 'Fragment V,' good song. Overall though I like the new album a little better than Fragment. Don't know what else they've put out, haven't listened yet.
