Anyone have any opinions on these contraptions, I know they are and investment but I think I may go this route instead of single effect pedals.
Keep in mind that the GNX4 cost $100 more than the pod and digitech just came out wit a more comparable GNX3000.
any feedback good or bad about these things would be very usefull.

The POD is absolutely fantastic. It's used by many studio and recording artists.

I have never used any of these but I hear a lot of good things about the Boss GT-8. One of my friends raves about it. Wants to buy one desperately but doesn't have the cash for it.
I just checked out the POD online and it looks amazing. Im actually thinking of buying a multi effects pedal this summer too, but still trying to decide which..the fact that Steve Pedula (thursday) uses the POD makes it seem very attractive to me..

I really strongly urge you to use a Pod before you buy. My mate was really into his for a while but it wore off eventually and became a novelty factor. He didn't need it for distortion and the other effects bored him.
Just my 2 cents.

What's its distortion like btw?

It's nice, you can get good low gain tones with good sustain on it.

I guess it's alright, i'm an elitest though and can't stand anything transistorised. Not suprising since I play through a Mesa Dual.
The POD excels with atmospheric sounds IMO, the distortion is fine but too me seems lifeless.
