Before "Volcano" had come out, i hadnt really given this band a chance. I had listened to "ribbons and sugar" and "in the land of lost monsters" a few times but I couldnt really get into either of them. but when i heard volcano, i immediately fell in love with this band. I went back and listened to all their previous works and realized how great each of them was. I must say that I actually find "ribbons and sugar" to be their best work. what does everyone else think? what is the best release gatsby's american dream gas put out?

I said Volcano just because I have listened to it over and over lately. I love Gatsby's, if you haven't seen them live, I suggest you drop everything and go plan a trip to a venue near you. These guys tear the stage to pieces.

I will agree that I enjoyed Volcano on first listen much more than I did Ribbons and Sugar. Ribbons and Sugar does continue to improve on each listen though. I voted Volcano because I still enjoy it more and it just has a few more memorable tracks and a lot of killer riffs.
Tough choice. I went with Volcano, it gets the most spins. They are ridiculous live. Such an amazing performance.

Tough tough tough call...for me, it's Ribbons and Sugar. I didn't like it at first as much as I loved Volcano, but I still listen to Ribbons like once a week, and it's been out for 2 years. Because it's so much more technical, it has a longer lasting value. Lyrically, Volcano is stronger...but for total listening value I'd go with Ribbons. Both albums are 10s for me though. Anybody that likes the Monsters EP the best REALLY needs to listen to other GAD stuff, haha....it's by far their worst work, they wrote and recorded it in like a week...
I think Volcano is the overall more solid album, while Ribbons and Sugar has more stand-out tracks.

hmm, well I got into gad early so I fell in love with why we fight when it came out..2002? Sounds right.
And with each release I've just liked them more and more.
my vote goes to why we fight.

it takes a really open mind to let Ribbons and Sugar in...it's so much more than like pop-punk or something.

I still have yet to hear Why We Fight, but Volcano is one of the top ten CDs released this year in my opinion. I'd have to say that Ribbons And Sugar would come in a close second...

that was a very hard question. I went w/ volcano becasue I think its the best thing in the world when Nic says "I see the world in a swirl of hues" near the end of Fable. Plus all the lyrics go together and its just amazing. R&S is better for the timings and shit.
