This looks like it will be great

Synopsis: 9 takes place in a world parallel to our own, in which the very legacy of humanity is threatened. A group of sapient rag dolls, living a post-apocalyptic existence find one of their own, 9 (Elijah Wood (http://www.traileraddict.com/trailer/9-feature/trailer#)), who displays leadership qualities that may help them to survive.

Elijah Wood plays a character where he leads a group of misfits through the fire and flame, helping them survive daunting tasks along the way? I'll believe it when I see it.
This movie seems to be original. I heard the character Wood plays carries some ring around his neck that gives him some sort of superpowers and shit. Sounds Oscar worthy.

By the way, this is based off a short film that was nominated for an Oscar in 2006. Cool shit.

I heard about this movie a few years ago, its based on an animated short of the same name, and apparently was nominated for alot of awards. It's the director's(Shane Acker) first feature film, but Burton and Timur Bekmambetov have produced it, which style-wise you can see what might have attracted them, but its obvious that its someone else's baby. Kinda reminds me of those Oddworld games back in the late 90's, being that its a post-apocalyptic story about survival(but with these little doll people, I'm assuming man's extinct). Anyways it looks interesting, and its got Elijah Wood, John C. Reilly, Martin Landau, Jennifer Connoly, and Crispin Glover doing the voices. The trailer just came out so check it out below, oh and its got a coheed & cambria song in it.

I disagree because, well, it's true. They don't want to get pigeonholed with 99% of animated movies that come out.

yeah i guess i just see it as if you see the trailer you should realize it isnt going to be toy story ya know? i just thought the line was cheesy. maybe if they had used some other line it wouldnt had bothered me that much. even though i have no idea what that line would be haha.

just realized there are two movies still to come out this year, both called nine.

9, is the tim burton movie everyone is talking about in the thread

nine, which i thought this thread was about, is the new rob marshall movie which will most likely take best picture based off the trailer alone
Haha, one of my friends wanted to show me and my girlfriend the trailer for that film and the conversation went as follows:

Him: Have you seen the new trailer for that Nine movie?
My Girlfriend: You mean District 9? That already came out.
Him: No, that-
Me: Oh, you mean that animated movie? Yeah, I've seen the trailer.
My Girlfriend: That's been out for a while.
Him: No, it's not an animated movie, it's a different one-

Him: Yes. This is different. Right now I really wish it had a different title.

Man...I saw this tonight and I hate to say it, but I was let down. I'm really sad about it too because I was looking forward to this movie for a while. Visually it was awesome, the action was exciting and the animation was great. Some of the robots creeped me out (that snake thing!) and I was honestly shocked by some moments 9 looking in the car and seeing the dead woman and her child. Overall though, I was just underwhelmed. It felt like there was a lot of missing character development and back story. I felt like I was just dropped into the middle of a story I knew nothing about and asked to care for these characters I knew nothing about. Still, I'd recommend it just for the animation alone.

I thought it was good, but it would have been better if it were, I don't know, doubled in length. The movie was like an hour and 20 minutes. Not enough time.
