The NBA Finals are over, and being a Pistons fan, I'm looking foward to moving on as quickly as possible. Is anyone as stoked as I am that Fantasy Football is right around the corner?

Wow, that's high stakes. How many teams are in the league and what's the buy in? I think this wil me my 9th or 10th year playing. Its good to meet someone else who remembers the days when you tallied the points manually the following Monday using the USAToday.

oh totally, i think my first team had barry sanders and warren moon as starters, i was 10 and a guy at my mom's work introduced everyone to it and they knew i knew what i was talking about so they let me have a team with her, we still co own the team and i just draft via AIM while they sit in the board room the tuesday before the season...it's something like $75 each person, two divisions of 10 teams, so 20 altogether, and each transaction is $2...the great thing to me about it is the scoring hasn't really changed for us much since it started, so there aren't any ridiculous 310-190 games, the scores are like 42-46.

Believe it or not, I've actually never played it.

if you do, start it up with friends, it gets you much more into it then random yahoo leagues.

i LOVE fantasy football.. last year, my best friend and i won $3500 to split by coming in first place. it was pretty much the happiest day of my life. we need to get a league going on here when the season is almost here.

I bet. I only have one friend that's into football, and we enter this thing with people to pick a winner of a game every week. You can only pick a team once. Winner usually gets about $1000, but it's tough because of upsets.

Sounds like a good idea

i also do one of those every year too. we call it a "last man standing" pool. those are a lot of fun. i split it 2 years ago and won $900 bucks in that one. we should get one of those going too.

That's great! I can't imagine what its like being in a 20 team league. It's certainly not for amateurs.

Drafting via AIM just isn't the same is it? I've had to do it couple of times before. Now I have a two year old league that I head. We've got some big-time plans for the draft this year, its going to be a lot of fun.

That does sound fun. Could you explain the rules in a little more depth please?

every week, each contestant picks one team to win, no point spread. if your team wins, you move on to the next week. you can never pick the same team twice.

so let's say you pick the pats in week 1, and they win, then you move on, but you can never use them again.

there's definitely a lot of strategy involved. it's a fun contest.

Yeah, AIM just isn't the same as sitting around a table with everyone reading the magazines and having the whole room watch you when its your turn. Then when someone makes a pick tell him how bad a pick it was. With AIM though I can spend more time researching which gives me a little edge, but it's less fun.
