The Weakerthans Appreciation Thread

The Weakerthans officially do not get enough praise from most media outlets. "Reconstruction Site was one of the best albums of 2003 (quite possibly my favourite of the year), "Fallow" and "Left and Leaving" are fantastic albums, and John Samson is a lyrical genius.

To find out if there are others on this site who recognize the brilliance that is The Weakerthans, I decided to make this thread. Post away with your feelings on the band.

I love the Weakerthans. They are soooo great live. I saw them play most recently with The Constantines, Chad van Gaalen and Sunday Night Drive.... such a great show.

That sounds like a killer show. It sucks being in one of the parts of Canada they don't go through (Northern BC) but man... if they ever came near I'd be there in a second.

I love the weakerthans. Not only do *I* think they're great... they're one of the few bands my mother + I agree on. I don't know if that's actually a plus in their favor, but I like to think so

My parents really like a lot of the Weakerthans' stuff too. Psalm for the Elks, Reconstruction Site, and One Great City are their favorite tracks.

Speaking of which, what's everyone's favorite Weakerthans song? Mine is Reconstruction Site, simply because it is such a great tune and the lyrics are brilliant, but I'm sure other people have other opinions... do share.

The Weakerthans are a great band; one of my favorites. I saw them play at the troc a few weeks ago and it was awesome. They did a great job with the songs and they played a ton of material.

I really like that song "Aside", to me Propagandhi went downhill when Sampson left the band.
