okay, i'm gong to try this again, seeing as how the last two times i tried to post it showed up all funky.
.:Passing:.
The bright florescent lights of the stiff, cold surgery room made the blood from Samantha’s chest seem like a newly budded rose, the crimson strings slowly trickling down her breast’s and onto her stomach, seeping into her hospital gown, leaving the remains of a messy surgery. The doctor’s pricked at her throbbing heart with care, knowing that with a slip of their finger, her life would end. Samantha looked down at her bloody, misshapen body. She was unhealthily skinny, for her medicine making her food carry the taste of sawdust. Though her body was unconscious, an expression of confusion and pain lingered on her face.
Her spirit hovered above the nervous doctor’s, wondering how long it would take for life end, or carry on. "Hopefully the first one," she said to herself quietly, even though she was almost certain nobody could hear her. For the last two years, death was one thing she and anticipated. James was the breath she wished she didn’t breathe, and now it seemed that her opportunity had arisen. She was about to die. She could feel it. She would be with him again.
The slowly, hollow tune of the monitor ringing throughout the room, causing the doctor’s to break into a frenzy. They pressed two large pads against her pulsing heart, sending sharp electric shocks throughout her pumping ventricles. One, two, three, the pounding of the pads kept a steady beat. She turned her head. She could see her parents and her sister standing above the room, watching through a wide glass window pane. Her mother had a look a fright stained on her face, tears falling from her eyes, landing on the steady arm of her husband which held her tight as the tears kept flowing.
Four, five, six, the pounding continued, but the still ringing of the monitor never ceased. The doctor’s stopped the pounding. One of the doctor’s began to argue with another, but with a slow and calm wave of his hand, she stopped, putting down the pads and slowly walking away from the split open corpse. Samantha could now hear the miserable wailing of her mother; her fist’s pounding against the wide glass windows, only to be gently pulled away by her father, whose grief was more silent, but all the more strong.
Several minuets later, her body was wheeled out of the room, the metal that held her lifeless body pushing open the doors with little effort.
But Samantha was distracted by a sudden flashing of bright, silver lights that seemed to appear from nowhere. The whole room became enveloped in a warm silver light, melting away darkness and chill of the grim surgery room. She peered into the light, the sight of slowly walking figure catching her eye. Her heart leapt when she saw James standing before her, glowing with the light of a thousand stars. He looked just like she remembered him; sandy hair, a slender, compassionate looking face, and milk tinted skin. “James!” she whispered. She ran to him, only to be greeted with the tight embrace of his arms. He laughed, saying softly “I’ve missed you too.” Samantha looked up at him, her dark eyes filling with tears of joy and shock all at the same time.
“Come on,” he said with a pleasant, soft voice. “I’ve got so many things to show you” Samantha smiled happily as they walked off into the lights, letting a world of grief, torment, and sadness melt away behind them, the light consuming them, until heaven had fully taken them into it’s warm grasp.
