i recently recorded my first RAP band. here goes. http://www.myspace.com/lifeon73rd
They just posted the songs up about an hour ago so if i can get some feedback on the overall quality of the songs, it would be much appreciated.
Caution: the songs can be kind of harsh so its not work friendly or child friendly.
P.S. Dont take into consideration the pops in it. I gave them an AIF file and they tried to convert it into a mp3 and made pops. - But if anyone has a reason for this feel free to let me know too.

Joe

I haven't listened, but myspace tracks almost always sound horrible. Make a Soundclick page instead. No one uses it really, but at least you can get decent sound quality out of it if you actually want people to hear the songs.

Make sure it sounds good before you upload it though. Make sure you (they?) are converting it to a 128kbps mp3, and mess around with the quality until it sounds good.
I find with my program, if I make a 128kbps mp3 on "high quality" setting, it sounds like shit, but on a "lower quality" setting, it's much better.
I think .aif files are for mac right? The mp3 conversion program I use is a free one called Audiograbber that uses the LAME encoder. I don't know if it works for macs though.

.Aiff is basically CD quality. its for windows and mac. Mp3s are usually way more compressed versions of AIF files.
i think the converts were a 320 bitrate. but on high quality. maybe ill try to convert them into low quality like you said.
thanks. and is Audiograbber free? i use switch which isnt that good

Yeah I know that, I just thought .aif might have been mac only. I use .wav on windows, which it another lossless audio file.
The mp3s on myspace (and all music sites) are 128kbps mp3s. If you convert it to a 320 kbps mp3, myspace will further reduce it to 128, and it will sound terrible on their player. Make sure the mp3s you upload to any site like that (purevolume, soundclick) are 128. They still may not sound pristine, but they'll sound better then the "double" conversion.
