Has any one seen or heard anything about this epic (4+hr) movie starring Benicio Del Toro? I'm very interested in seeing it but I cant find release dates anywhere.

I'm guessing it's based after revolutionary, Che Guevara?

Watched the DVD screener of part one that's been released. Solid, very ambitious. I heard that it wasn't due in theaters 'til spring. Critical reception thus far, though, has been mixed. Several reviews I've read have recognized the scope but found some fault with presentation and characterization.

I just checked its IMDB page and it has a January 24, 2009 release date. I thought it was released some time this fall, but apparently I was wrong. I guess I can wait a couple more weeks to check this out.

From Wikipedia:

Che was screened on May 21 at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival running over four hours.[1] Del Toro won the Best Actor Award at the festival for his portrayal of Guevara in the film. IFC Films has acquired all North American rights to Che and was released for one week on December 12, 2008 in New York City and Los Angeles in December in order to qualify for the Academy Awards. The film will re-open on January 9, 2009 in these two cities as two separate films, titled Che Part 1: The Argentine and Che Part 2: Guerrilla. The films will then be released in 25 markets beginning January 16 and 22 and will expand further after that. IFC will make the films available Video on demand on January 21 on all major cable and satellite providers in both standard and high definition versions.

Glad to hear it'll be making its way to OnDemand that soon.

Since the screener for part one's been out there, how come no one's talking about it? It's excellent. Benicio is in top form imo.
