Rap is funny, even when they are trying to be serious.
MC Lars is awesome
MC Chris is funny sometimes

DMX. Even though he's probably trying to be serious.
It just depends on what you consider funny. Jay-Z can be pretty funny (99 Problems), but most of the time what makes me laugh the most is when they're really trying to be serious.
You could also just go generic and listen to 3Oh!3.

Eminem and Lil' Wayne are both not only funny, but extremely skilled. Same goes for Kanye West.

lol, Kanye West is a terrible rapper. His production is good (overrated, though), and that's about it.

It's only good (certainly not "one of the best hip hop albums ever") because of the production, not his rapping, and he didn't even produce the two best songs on it.

Kanye has a lot of talent, like it or not. He may not be a real rapper, but he can do what someone needs to make a good album. Who needs to rap when he has all the best connections in the game? He can always bring in someone else. Girl Talk isn't doing ANY of his stuff on his own, and people love him.
Although he did fail with the Daft Punk sample. That kinda ruined it. Don't touch that, leave it alone.

That Daft Punk sample was probably the most interesting thing he's done. You talking about him having the best connections pretty much sums Kanye up. He isn't that talented, he just surrounds himself with people who are. Even the DP sample was probably just A-Trak's idea.
What Girl Talk and Kanye West are doing aren't even comparable in terms of talent or even what they're attempting to do with their music. To say that Girl Talk isn't "doing any of his stuff on his own" is a little ridiculous to anyone who actually understands what a mash-up is or why Night Ripper was such an outstanding album at the time. Not to mention the fact that his first two albums did feature a lot of his own production.

No, no no. The most interesting thing he's done has changed every album. For 808s, it was his producing skills. Graduation was a great album, not amazing, but the best hip-hop I've heard in a while. It may not be rap, but shouldn't that be okay when it sounds better? On College Dropout, Diamonds From Sierra Leone was not only the best song on there, it proved a point.
Although it's true that I like the Jay-Z version more. I guess that just proves the connections part.

The production on 808s isn't very interesting unless you've never heard a song with an 808 before. Also, "Diamonds From Sierra Leone" wasn't even produced by Kanye, although it is a good song.
