It'll be a snub if Derrick Lee from the Cubs doesn't start. I know he will be on the team, but if he doesn't start, that's a disgrace. He is the obvious NL MVP right now.

He is starting.

Ok, good. Cause last time I checked, Pujols was first place in voting for 1B.
Haha, well I just realized that the rosters were announced today. I think Guillen from Washington got snubbed. But at least Carlos Lee made it.

Haha, Jose Guillen doesn't make the roster but Beltran/Edmonds start. Gotta love fan voting, boys.

Yeah, Beltran has been sucking ass this year.

I can't stand Jose Guillen, as a person. He was such an ass in the 2 months he was an Athletic.

Ya, but Rogers and A-rod made it.
Hunter should be on the list.
Drew Beringer

Damn, Hunter didn't make it.
But it's good to see only two Yankees on the team.

I'm quite fond of him, actually. I loved him here in Cincy, he just had to split playing time in our outfield and he wanted to play everyday. Guy's a great hitter, has a cannon of an arm and in his time here he conducted himself as well as could be expected given the circumstances.

Mark Kotsay
Kotsay was not snubbed, he is a good player, and will be great if he gets out of oakland, especially if he goes to the Cubs.
the only crazy/unbelievable snub was Ensberg. the only starting snub was that of Felipe Lopez, he should have over Eek Stine.

Morgan Ensberg, Cliff Floyd. Neither one made it.

wow... 4 red sox starters, no red sox reserves. i'm impressed with francona, although the ones who got in were the only ones who deserved it, really.
also, more orioles than yankees? joe torre must be rolling over in his grave.
heh, i also just noticed that crazy man rogers made it too, will they let him participate?

Utley definately, Tori Hunter, Morgan Engsberg, Trevor Hoffman, Brandon Webb, Francisco Rodriguez, Huston Street over Duchscherer, Scott Podsendik, Grazy Sizemore, Travis Hafner, Coco Crisp, Jeremy Bonderman, Troy Glaus, Ryan Klesko, Reggie Sanders, Adam Dunn?, Darylll Ward, Matt Lawton, marcus giles, Jose Guillen, Brad Wilkerson, Pat Burrel, Bret Myers, Jimmy Rollins, Cliff Floyd. seriously Piazza and Beltran don't deserve to be there at all.

Huston Street over Duchscherer
Street's downfall was that he has been injured for a bit of the season. But if he had been healthy, then definitely.
heh, i also just noticed that crazy man rogers made it too, will they let him participate?
He's appealing his suspension and it's doubtful that his appeal will be heard by the time of the game, so yes he will be allowed.

i'm rather surprised that i would have to point this out to you, seeing as you are obviously an oakland fan,but here it goes. The Athletics are what many would call a developmental team, just like the Indians and Royals, They mold some of the best young players into being the best veteran players, but with the way Billy Beane manages contracts and the payroll, it makes it rather difficult for them to win IT ALL. Don't get me wrong, just about every year the A's put a very young contending team out on the field (with the exception of this year, of course), but by getting rid of some of the games best players, in the last five years being: Hudson, Mulder, Tejada, Damon, Hernandez, Foulke, please forgive me if i have forgotten anyone, they've (the A's) made it very difficult for them to win even a divisional series.
now, for the "moron" statement, i think i should give you a chance to apoplogize, perhaps.
now for your suggestion that Kotsay was snubbed, and for him to have been the only snub in your opening post, i must say you must not have a profound gift for reading stats, so please allow me to translate:
90 hits = 17th best among the outfielders.
5 hrs = 86th among outfielders
42 RBI= 30th among outfielders
.281 BA = 4th among his teamates of which ONE player is batting above .300.
now ok you say, but he's a lead off man, and a great defensive player:
1) the All Star game could give a rats ass about defense, with as much as i hate that, it is none the less true.
2)the other fellows leading off in the league have an On Base Percentage of .433 (Roberts), .386 (Damon), .345 (Ichiro), .353 (Sizemore), and now for Kotsay.... .301
just because he is the 2nd best fielder and batter (Chavez is clearly the first) on your hometown team, that does not warrant an ALL STAR position.
now for my last snub, it had to have been Jesse Crain of the Minnesota Twins, if for no other reason than his 8 vultured wins, followed rather closely by his 1.41 era.

Ah, but it does. Kotsay has clearly been the greatest producer on the A's this year, and since every team is warranted one All-Star he was snubbed.
in the last five years being: Hudson, Mulder, Tejada, Damon, Hernandez, Foulke
Mulder Trade A's got: Haren: 7-7 3.85 (Own his rights for another 4 years), Calero: 2-0 8.2 K/9, Barton: 19 years old, Starting in the Futures Game .309 avg in A, predicted to be in AAA by the end of the year
Tejada Loss: Huston Street: 21 years old, own his rights for the next 6 years, 2-1 1.46 ERA 4 SV 9.73 K/9, now closer.
Damon Loss: Nick Swisher: 24, own his rights for another 5 years. .233 9 34(injured for part of season).
Hernandez(+ Long): Mark Kotsay: .2815 42 .338 OBP (nice stats) Top 4 Defensive CFs
Foulke: Landon Powell: Top 10 Catching Prospect
Explain to me the fault in this

again, as i explained in the first post, The A's are a developmental team, they groom the best YOUNG players and when they are through with them, they trade them for the next batch of YOUNG talent, there is nothing wrong with this unless you want to win in the POST SEASON.
as for Kotsay, there is no case you could bring forth that would justify him being picked over chavez, none.
as of this morning:
Chavez: 11 homeruns, 46 RBI, .278 BA, 47 Runs, 1SB, .336 OBP
Kotsay: 5 homeruns, 42 RBI, .281BA, 41 Runs, 3 SB, .338 OBP he was 4/5 last night, just to get here.
and the fact that chavez was hovering the mendoza line during Late May, his stats are nearly identical to Kotsay's (except where he is head over heels better in the power dept.).

...and that's why Kotsay has been more productive. He was hitting 100 points higher than Chavez early in the year. He has been productive for the entire season, when Chavez has just been productive for the last month and a half.

Morgan Ensberg
fans shouldn't vote players in. it's ridiculous seeing scott rolen in the game over the year ensberg is having. granted, rolen is a stud 3B but he hasn't had as good as year as Ensberg due to injuries. ramirez deserved his spot though.

the A's also have Kurt Suzuki!!!! he'll be a good catcher in the big leagues in a couple years.

do you have any idea how ridiculous that sounds, a player that has been good ONLY VERY RECENTLY, has greater power numbers and hundreths of a points less in BA and OBP. now if Kotsay were so wonderful (and he is by no means a bad player) and has had the production all year than why did it take Chavez only 30 days to catch up and pass Kotsay in rather meaningful catergories?

I'd hate to break it to you, but not all players hit for power. And not all players can drive in the number of runs those can at the heart of the order.
It also might have something to do with Chavez hitting around .400 in the past monthish.

someone like Tori Hunter deserves the last vote. Rogers should step down and let Matt Clement take his spot.

good player, but i just don't think he's met expectations this year. he may be the most productive on the A's, but have the A's been very productive this season so far? their getting healthier and better at the same time, so mabye the tide will turn, but im not sure he's deserving his all star spot yet this season. i would put him ahead of Ichiro this season, though. don't understand that.

i agree with rogers stepping down
