View Full Version : Why do you like/dislike the new Finch?

I think it's a really good album, chock full of Faith No More and Dillinger Escape Plan influences. Sure, Nate borderline rips off vocal tones from Miss Machine at points (hello "Ravenous!"), but this is seriously a nice effort after that somewhat boring video they released.
I'm just extraordinarily curious as to why so many of you dislike it. Is it because it's not pop-punk with screams? Explain. And if you do like it, please feel free to chime in.

People complain about this record because it doesn't have any rhythm and the lyrics are too weird, but I love it. I mean, Finch have grown up musically, lyrically and vocally, and also as a band as well. I'm thankful they did, because they have created another album which surpasses most of the watered down bands we hear today.

After listening to it a few times, I definitely like it. If it isn't an awesome record in itself, it sure as hell is a step in the right direction for this band. Rather than taking the generic cookie-cutter approach to their music, they definitely did something different and I appreciate that a whole lot.

still haven't listened to it...i've heard too much about it and i can't listen to an album until i can clear all that out of my head or i'll make a judgement too quickly. plus i know i need to brace myself so i'm not waiting to hear what it is to burn.

I disagree 100%. In my opinion this is totally the wrong direction for them to take. You can grow up and avoid the 'cookie-cutter' approach without pretending to be something which you aren't. If this is what their new direction sounds like then they should probably go backwards and have a re-think. Before everyone jumps my bones for saying this I reiterate that this is my opinion only.

1) They took so long because of all the drama they had. They fired their producer, then binned their original take of the album because they weren't satisfied with it.
2) I think it's better than WIITB, even if it isn't as "catchy". They just take some listening to, that's all.
3) Learn fucking grammar, man!

I deffiantely like it more than their first album which was mediocre at best. Say Hello To The Sunshine is deffinately good but its not great.
It reminds me of S.C.I.E.N.C.E by Incubus.

i bought it the first day it came out, and i've only listened to it a handful of times. i still cant decide if i like it. i think i was just anticioating it for so long, that i'm sort of disapointed in it. i understand that bands "grow up musically" and all, but its just way different than WIITB. i'm not saying its bad though. just very very different. so i guess i can say tht i'm partial to it.

I'm glad I didn't buy it to be honest. I would have been even more disappointed that way.
