The first band I ever really remember listening to, and I still think Hotel California is pretty solid.
Any other fans, past or present?

I recently put all of my dad's Eagles albums on my ipod. Solid songwriters, and you can't beat their harmonies.

Love them. Hotel California is one of the greatest albums ever recorded, cover to cover.

The Eagles are amazing, and can be listened to at any time of day, and in any mood.

Haha, yeah my parents were really big fans. I distinctly remember trying to steal my Dad's Hotel California record so many times that my mom finally went out and bought me that greatest hits album with the white cover/thunder logo.

Agreed. It might just be because of my nostalgic ties to them, but I'll still listen to their older material occasionally and it always puts me in a good mood, ha.

There isn't already an Eagles thread? It's not surprising, but still...
My father's a huge fan, so I've been forced to listen to them countless times. Such a great band, even though some of the members (Frey and Henley) strike me as major jackasses.

The solo in Hotel California is one of my favourite guitar solos ever.

Every time Hotel California comes on the radio I can't not crank to volume when the solo comes up. They were a really good band. Sadly, I feel like they succumbed to the shittiness of 80's soft-rock just like so many other great rock bands of the late 60's to 70's.

I've been really getting into the 70's California "Mellow Mafia" sound a lot lately, which has led me to revisit The Eagles. God, were they good. Their harmonies were never any less than pitch-perfect, Felder was a heck of a guitarist and they just wrote so many classic songs. I think One of These Nights is probably my favorite, but The Long Run might eclipse it.

I must say I absolutely love the eagles music more than any others. Best tunes are Tequila Sunrise, Peacefull Easy Feeling (Jack Tempchin), Lyin Eyes, Take it Easy...you know the good old eagles. I pretty much love everything they do tough. Take it to the limit was the first song I remember listening to. I love it all and I'll always have love for the eagles no matter what

The solo on 'Hotel California' is pretty epic. It must be something because DJs won't talk over it.
Band deserve kudos for being good at what they do. Approve of the thread!

All their records are so good, but for some reason I've always been the biggest fan of The Long Run. Blasphemy, I know. But it has some stuff you don't hear anywhere else in their catalog. The rhodes-y "I Can't Tell You Why", the menacingly funky "Those Shoes" or the rock sheen of "In the City".

"i cant tell you why" is a killer track
"in the city" is an in-between track, good not great
man i love the eagles

It's a shame they split when they did. Would have liked to hear more than one Schmidt song.

So much nostalgia associated with these guys. One of the first bands I ever really loved, and my early exposure to them played a big role in shaping my taste in music. Was also pretty cool to find out that I'd been listening to a song by my favorite artist since I was like six, even if it wasn't technically him ("Ol' 55").

My dad and I listen to them a lot in his car. My mom despises them.
