Oh man, when i first bought Eudora this was my favourite track. But now i listen again and it is probably up there in my top 10 favourite songs.....ever. And probably my favourite Get up kids song. The guitar in the song is so simple yet so sexual.
Ok, orgasm over
I miss the get up kids :(

Wow, nice call... Central Standard Time is one of my all time faves as well. I was happy when it was released on Eudora so I'd have a non-Vinyl copy of it. The message in the song is so so true these days in this world. As hard as I've tried to stay in touch with my friends over the years, distance has defined us all.

What do you think the chorus is?
"There's divided lines between ... /Promise me, you'll still be mine"

There's dividing lines between East and Standard time.

I don't like GUK. Call me crazy but... boring? I dunno, I could never get into them.

Haha, way to contribute. ;) To each his own when it comes to stuff like musical tastes.
I tend to agree TGUK's music got a bit boring even to me with their last couple albums. My fave album and a very meaningful album at that point in my life was the Red Letter Day EP. Had I discovered them later than in between the release of Four Minute Mile and that EP I might have thought differently, but that's the way it worked out and they're still one of my all time favorite bands.

Yeah, that's what it sounds like, kinda. But what is Standard time? Isn't it Eastern Standard Time and Central Standard Time. I'd never heard of just Standard time.

Yeah, that always bugged me for a while, then I guess I just I just chalked it up to either poetic license or an oversight. Listening to it again the only other thing I could make it out to be would be Eastern Standard Time instead of East and Standard Time... but I can't get myself to hear anything but the word "between" before that and that's the only thing that could really change the meaning if it were a different word. Hrm, now this is gonna drive me nuts until I figure it out. Doh.
If we go with the original lyrics and get really technical about it, we could think of it as time they use in the East (like Eastern countries... even GMT even though it isn't really far East, it's East of the US technically) and Standard Time like we do use in the US. That's kinda stretching it though and it's late and this is a really poor analysis. Anyone have some real insight into what the lyrics really are to that part and if I'm right why it was phrased that way?

Hehe, you pretty much broke it down how I see it. I'd like to think its Eastern Standard Time, but it does sound like East and Standard Time. I think, if it is Eastern Standart Time, though, at least it could implied that the difference is between Eastern Standard and Central Standard.
Hehe, it did bug me for a while, too.

I just love the get up kids because they remind me so much of back in the day. I fucking loved them when I was younger and getting into music.

Basically
The covers of Suffragette City and Close to Me are magical. The Motley Crue cover is tight too.
Up on the Roof, Suffragette City and Forgive and Forget are fantastic songs.
The remakes of I'm a Loner Dottie, A Rebel and Shorty are great.

which ANne arbour do you prefer?
I prefer the RLD version for the music (the sweet piano bits) but the eudora version for certain vocal bits ('barely the air not to choke'...'last winter, Anne Arbour') which are sung differently
