Don't date younger girls.....they always want what they hear they are missing. This is what came out after me and my ex broke up after 3 years of dating. Influenced by Max Bemis and Conor Oberst.

So you say Im getting older and your staying young
And your moving out to get back to being fun
While the ghost drapped in sheets was once called our bed
it's now a reminder i wish we never met
Food doesn't taste the way it tasted with you
and drinking was for fun now it's used as a tool
to help me forget you and help me move on
time to get back to the way I once was
Heartless and courageous, so full of it all
searching for my girl just before last call
I know it's the life i once said I'd give up
but getting over you can't come without a fuck

So it's back to teen angst
how's that for getting older
Back to writing songs
about a head not so sober
Bitter with resentment
and pounding with fire
Always and forever
you said you'd love me, you liar.

Now that I'm feeling younger and and you're looking older
it's easy to forget you with this chip on my shoulder
i make a great boyfriend but a terrible ex
cause you're pulling all nighters with the opposite sex
its easy to seduce them under neon signs
throw yourself at them after a bottle of wine
I know Im the pot and the kettle is black
but now that I'm here it feels good to be back

So it's back to teen angst
how's that for getting older
Back to writing songs
about a heart not so sober
Bitter with resentment
and pounding with fire
Always and forever
you said you'd love me, you liar.

I like the lyrics but I don't like the way you phrase them in the recording. Also, I know you said your influences were Bemis and Oberst but you remind me more of the folk/punk sound Plan-It-X would push or like, a Mountain Goats type thing with a less charismatic voice.

hmm, ive never heard those bands. Less charismatic indeed, i know i'm not a singer. The band i was in broke ways, i wrote the lyrics so i kept the page and kept writing..so i started to sing them. Thanks for the opinion though dude.

You should really check out the Mountain Goats because you could do well in that vein. You're not a bad singer at all, just not the right voice for the type of music you said inspired you.

well they inspire me lyrically, not vocally. I just listened to The Mountain Goats and i see what you were saying.
