Who?

An unsigned five-piece from the San Francisco bay area that are churning out an intense and chaotic version of something-core.

How is it?

While I get the whole "jumbled mess AHH we're chaotic" sound, it can be a bit overdone. I mean, even though I enjoy listening through this EP, I don't exactly get where they're planning to go with their sound from here. They work on virtually no structure, which I do find attractive. However, the songs are basically so jumbled and chaotic that I don't really know what's happening half the time, and that may be what they're going for. It's a good listen, and they're definitely some talented dudes. The riffs and beats they lay out on these tracks are nothing but tight, and the vocalist can belt out a scream with the best of them. I don't know whether it's the production or just their sound, but it all seems to meld together at some points.

The arrangements on Tigon are really quite hectic. I mean, there's basically not a second where their vocalist isn't knocking you over the head with his powerful scream, and the guitarists are going full-force-technical-windstorm-speeds throughout the entire thing. A hurricane, tornado, or any other force of nature probably is a good description for their sound actually. I mean, the EP is basically a 15 minute trek through blasting guitars, crazy drumming, and straight-up intense vocals. Due to this non-stop 15 minute attack, it can kind of begin to wear on you after a little while, and it's not something that I envision myself listening to often in the future. This is a solid attempt, I'd just love to see Tigon put their talents and skill for writing this type of music to good use by diversifying it a little.
