View Full Version : All Time Low and Mayday Parade and NeverShoutNever! suck.

So I've been into the punk/screamo/emo scene for some time, since I was about eight. My favorite bands are Indian Summer, Jeromes Dream, and Leftover Crack, I also like some modern stuff by Bright Eyes, Sigur Ros, Bon Iver, Death Cab For Cutie, and the Decemberists. So at my high school all these kids think they are pretty hardcore because they listen to these bands, All Time Low, Mayday Parade, and NeverShoutNever!. So i took my chances and checked these bands out, to see what the hype is all about, and I was dissappointed to say the least. These bands are purely bad. Disgusting. NeverShoutNever! reminded me of an attention striving YouTube whore who weekly uploads bad acoustic covers of his favorite 'punk' songs. Embarrassed that people call this punk. Then came All Time Low. This guys voice is the most whiney thing I have ever heard. It sounds like a teen age girl begging her dad for money to go to the mall. The songwriting is lame, I don't know how a band could let someone sing these lyrics. "Tonight I'm dressed up in gold you got me fucked up and sold." Sold? With out a doubt. You sold me for death to punk. Drop D power chords, lame chord arcipeggos, and repetition. Basically everything I applies to Mayday Parade, who I found worse. The guy sounds like a mentally challenged ape with a speach inpediment. Lyrics are even worse.

I stand by the statement that the words 'pop' and 'punk', by nature, should never be used together. Doesn't 'pop' contradict everything 'punk' stands for?

Share your thoughts and if you're one of the many being fooled of by this Final Wave Of Punk-era, put up an argurment. Me respectful, be literate, debate. All I ask.

Cheers,

Alec

Nice username and you listen to some good stuff by the looks of your profile but people don't like these kinds of threads and you won't be treated with any sort of warmth if you make any more of these

i kind of like the cognative dissonance of seeing sigur ros and those bands listed. i can kind of imagine jonsi listening to them and being like what the fuck, and then going on to make more music that sounds like icebergs.

Well, as many have stated, what you just typed out has been done many times before (maybe not 'many', but I saw at least one person, as well as other responses that pertain to the idea). That's cool that you got into all the hip bands and this genre that's a lump of emo/screamo/whatever you stated at such a young age, because I was still listening to Janet Jackson cassette tapes and The Offspring at that time. Basically what I'm trying to say is "hey I understand what you're saying, but I really don't care because it's been said before". In turn, this thread was probably meant for your blog.

Okay williams, i understand what you mean, and I agree with your statement and I am going to do so. I am brand new on Absolute Punk, so i havent seen all these posts you speak of. Thanks for your input.

These types of threads are unnecessary -- you can bitch about whatever bands you hate in chat threads or official threads.
