San Fransisco
voices and seagulls
travel through the foggy
San Fransisco air.
along Fisherman's Warf
the street corners filled
with artisans and entertainers.
looking for a way out
of the 9 to 5 lifestyle
that devours the tourists.
tossing their money
into the bums' tip jars
to some for funny signs.
NINJAS STOLE MY FAMILY
NEED MONEY
FOR KARATE LESSONS
TOO UGLY TO GET LAID
NEED MONEY
FOR HOOKERS
as the beggers beg
for change for booze
and a way out
across the Bay
Alcatraz sits on its
island fortress
prisoners hear the laughter
of the new year's eve parties
seperated from society.
only the indians and seagulls
call the island prison
home sweet home.
as everyone else
in the city
looks for a way out.
Fall Semester
She told me
She had to go
meet his mother
for breakfest in
a half hour.
I woke in her bed
gathered my cell
phone and wallet.
I passed you leaving
her room as you
got off the elevator
and I was getting on.
My flip flop broke
as I left her dorm
on my way to
my room to get my
books and head
to class.
The sun was hot
on my beard
as I walked
up the paved hill
with one flip flop
on and the other
in my hand
as I passed
a guide giving
his tour for
future students
that maybe will attend
the college one day.
