I'm not a big cheese guy but: for sandwiches, I go provolone. For general topping, I prefer melted mozzarella. American is gross.

I always find it funny how American cheese is somewhat of a reflection on America food in general. It's processed, not "real," lacking a unique flavor, and filled with preservatives.

Cheddar is the best on the list, but I think -Jack cheese wins over all.

My family visits this Cabot cheese store in Vermont sometimes when we go to our house there. It's really nice they have a shit load of free samples and stuff.

Other, obviously. I love soft cheeses like Brie, Camembert, Limburger, Bleu, etc.

Out of that list though, provolone is the best for sandwiches, and a good, sharp cheddar is fantastic. Cabot hunter's is the best cheddar I've ever had. So sharp, so good.
