I couldn't find a single thread about these guys, and they certainly need one. Their S/T debut is being released in the US tonight.

It's a good album. That's all I really have to say since i listen to them sparingly.

I have no idea where your address is, but if you're american, don't you find the accent a bit too much? I'm guessing that's the main reason they haven't really caught on as well over the pond as they did here last year.

I do live in America. The accent is probably a turn off for most people that have come across this band. I, on the other hand, don't really have a problem with the accent. If the music is decent and the lyrics are good it's definitely a good release in my book. Granted I have only listened to the album twice now, it will take a little while before i start liking it more.

Do you like it?

At the time I really enjoyed the album but man I have had no desire to listen to it for months. Wore off pretty quick. The accent can get a little much but it adds a little something to certain songs.

I dig Glasvegas, but I think there are better bands that are similar...Kill Hannah, Shapes of Race Cars, Minutes Til Midnight come to mind. They had a pretty good set at Coachella though.

I first heard their album on a plane and had to stop myself from losing all dignity by crying my eyes out over his It's My Own Cheating Heart...

It's definitley a unique album and every component of it comes together brilliantly from the heart breakingly honest lyrics and the way he sings them to the reverb on the drums and guitar. It feels like a really spacious album (if that makes sense) and I can't wait to hear what they do next.

Although, once I realised that he wasn't just articulating the words in an interesting way but rather has a VERY heavy Scottish accent, I keep focussing on it haha...

Over all I absolutely love this band (despite only having released one record). Soooooo glad you guys are recognising them on AP!!!

Well considering I haven't actually seen them, just heard them, I can't comment on attitude or look.

As for his voice - I can see where you're coming from, but I quite like how it almost sounds like he's crying while he's singing. The accent does get a little heavy in places though.

Love them, and I love seeing Scottish bands being given a good word on here.

He looks like a poor mans Joe Strummer.. always wearing sun glasses aswell. annoys the fuck out of me!!

His voice in general is just bad in my head. there are loads of scottish bands like Biffy Clyro and Twin Atlantic who's voices are great. an overhyped, boring band is how I view glasvegas

But cool rockstars wear sunglasses remember ;-)

Personally I still love his voice - the way he uses it to lift the song into a climax is great.

Over hyped? No one's heard of them 'round here...

Do you mean this website? It is called absolutepunk. haha

Haha, yeah, cool rockstars wear sunglasses, but a lot of dick head rock stars wear them too!

New Zealanders don't know who they are... Our selection of decent pop/punk (if Glasvegas could even pass as pop/punk) is strictly limited to Paramore, FOB and the heinous Shortstack.

I'd say they were an Indie band.. In the new way of saying Indie band that is. not an actual Indie band.

And that does sound bad, as I've never heard of shortstack, and I hate Paramore

And Opshop. Ugh.

I feel like my scottish background gives me an advantage with this band, in the sense that I can half understand what they're saying.

In MTV Studios right now. Does the drummer always play standing up? Seems like a stupid question but for the past 3 songs they've sound checked she has been standing. Can't decide whether or not I think she is cute yet.
